Robbie, how can you say that? Are you saying that there AREN'T any ladies that wanted to be AKA but based on stereotypes, they choose SOMETHING else? Is that what you are saying?
I can say it because I DON'T KNOW ANY. And just because you may know some, to make some kind of sweeping generalization because if it is silly, for lack of a more cutting term I could have used. In that vein, I know of Kappas that WANTED to be Alphas, now what say you to that? Should that be presented as some "regional mindset" on this forum? There are folks in EVERY org that wanted to be something other than what they are, and went in another direction for whatever reason, and it's not unique to the south....none of these "stereotypes" are. I saw more "yella" frat brothers of mine with good hair in DC at our centennial than I've ever seen "yella" frat brothers of yours in my whole greek life. What does it mean? Not a damned thing!! Too many folks concentrate too much on these "stereotypes" if you ask me.

Why are you just on AKA and Zeta? Why can't you say couldn't there be other girls who wanted to be Deltas, Zeta, SGRhos and because they didn't think they fit into the stereotype, they chose something else? I mean really. Oh and Southie, like Rob said, all us down home southern folks don't like this. We as a region have supposed to been liberated, but some of my fellow southerns' "MINDS" aren't. It is...what it is....People know I speak the truth. I dont sugar coat anything. Believe what you want southie, I dont care either way..If you are going to speak the truth, then do so. Not a part of it. You have folks in every org that wanted to be part of another org, but for whatever reason went a different path. You are focusing on one small aspect, and not looking at an entire picture.

I"m done with Z, buahahahahahahhahahahahahaha!
Cause I mean, to do a flip side, northerners on this board could make a generalization about all southerners on this board and say that we live in trees, take baths in a lake (when we take baths) and hog tie pigs for a living.
I'm just saying.

I Agree with that sentiment. But it wasn't a sweeping generalization because I said that SOME of the ladies MIGHT have wanted to be AKA's, I didnt say ALL I'm sure there are, somewhere! I'm not naive to believe otherwise Should that be presented as some "regional mindset" on this forum? There are folks in EVERY org that wanted to be something other than what they are, and went in another direction for whatever reason, and it's not unique to the south....none of these "stereotypes" are. Then something flipped, and Northerners started moving down here in droves and droves. I guess we weren't that bad after all...

I wanted to hear your opininons... and I asked about your opinion's, which was fair. At any point in time, did I make any remarks that would place Kappa in a bad light? You gave opinions about Regional Differences, very heavy on the stereotypes side, so I continued to ask questions. Do not attempt to step to South in the wrong manner. Its o.k t not agree but do not step backwards.

I really think that there's no such thing as regional differences in Kappa. Not from my experiences. There maybe different step/tap routines from Province to Province, etc..But it seems like everywhere I go, our "kulture" is widespread and inline with everything that is Kappa. I could be wrong obviously, but this is just my perspective. I notice the same with the members Omega Psi Phi. Phi Beta Sigma and Alpha Phi Alpha seems to be different region to region.

When I was at our Clave in ATL, to me it seemed the younger brothers from the south and midwest carried it harder than brothers the same age from this region (MD/DC/VA), Jersey, NY, etc.... Both would stroll, but the southern brothers seemed to have more swagger about it.

To Coldfront06, what I noticed is that some Alpha chapters emphasize the book-worm and brainy image than others. Like at Michigan, the Alphas and Kappas were always competing for the highest GPA, and you guys won with regularity, HA HA!...but at other chapters, it seemed like Alphas wanted to shake the book-worm and brainy image. Not all chapters though. I have a colleague who was made at Howard and he mentioned that their approach was to bring in a diverse group of young men who would do the work required of Alpha Phi Alpha, not just a bunch of intellectuals, which was the case at the U of M Alpha chapter.
Hope I answered your question.
