I've been working out consistently-cardio (steady state and HIIT) and strength training. I don't know how much i weigh, just that I wanna drop a few pounds and tone up. And be more fit overall. I can see some difference already. Arms are getting cut and the muscle definition in my legs is great-tho that wasn't a goal, as my legs have always been muscular. Oh yea, I went party dress shopping yesterday and slid into the cutest little tube top dress with absolute ease and looked fab in it-probably could have gone a size down ;D. Will actually weigh and take some measurements this week. People go from telling me that I look fine and am already small/skinny to telling me that I got chubby . (Was a size 2, now sometimes a size 6) Anyway, I am not listening to people. I am only 5'2"...so maintaining a healthy weight is crucial as there is not much wiggle room when you're short with a naturally small frame. Also, I believe that everyone has a weight/size at which their body feels good and comfy. I don't think I am at mine, and I believe that it will only get more difficult as I get older. So, I am completely and totally committed to getting that in order. Plus I just want to be fit (former 3-season athlete) and healthy (too many chronic diseases running around in my fam). I am at the point where I actually like running and I look forward to it. (This is a lifelong asthmatic who had a bout of pneumonia only 9 months ago speaking.) I got my little sis on board, and she is dropping weight and has come a LONG way as far as endurance & fitness. It has been a GREAT journey!

ok, ok. I just learned about this stuff called Miracle Noodles ( miraclenoodles.com )
Apparently, it's made from some kinda plant fiber and it's completely calorie free. I can only imagine that this being far too good to be true as it is, it must like eff up your chromosomes or make your hair fall out or some such! I mean I am so intrigued and yet so incredulous at the same time. That said, I'm pretty sure I need to try this, lol. Please have a look at the site and share your thoughts!

I was a lot nervous about this 2 week work travel binge I was on, because I knew I had blown a lot of my progress. I actually lost a pound, so I feel good about that. Now I have to get back into workout mode and keep it going.

I haven't jogged since Monday. Tomorrow (weather-permitting) I will go hard and double up - morning run and evening run.

BTW: Adidas miCoach is theee TRUTH!
For all you Droid, I-phone, and BlackBerry users, download this FREE app. It helps you to track your (cardio) progress, creates workout plans for you, and coaches you toward your goals and based on your fitness level. Did I mention that it is FREE.99???
I believe that it was created to rival the Nike Plus app which is NOT FREE. Just give it a try. It has definitely motivated me.

Thanks mamacita!
I'm on a very strict diet right now but I look forward to getting back in the gym (I alternate: diet for loss/exercise for maintenance). When I get back from my trip, I'm gonna meet up with my trainer and do a couple weeks just to get back in the swing of things and take it myself for the rest of the year. Pretty sure I'll be starting Insanity after Thanksgiving. Some ladies in my congregation are having great results with it.

Besides the fact that my calves were burning and trying to cramp up by mile 1.5, today's workout was sooo NOT challenging. I have to make some adjustments.

^^ I call that a challenge, lol. I put "run a mile outdoors" on my 30 before 30 list. I might get out on the track this fall

^^ I call that a challenge, lol. I put "run a mile outdoors" on my 30 before 30 list. I might get out on the track this fall I went from barely being able to get around the track once (.25mi) to running 1, then 2, and then up to 3.2 non-stop within the space of no more than 3 weeks. I realized the battle was all in my head and once I won that fight, my body would more than cooperate. I had to stop at 2miles today tho so I am bummed. I was aiming for 4 miles by the end of next week. I think that taking off 2 consecutive days during the week (Tues/Wed...not done on purpose) set me back. I don't know. I despise treadmill running.

lol. The batteries were low. Jacking up my readings. I went to the store and bought new ones.
40 pounds in 5 months sounds crazy, but it isn't. 2lbs a week is normal weight loss, lol.
I did a 23-day course of the hcG diet in April and I'm on day 16 of another. I normally net about 15 lbs each time. When I'm not dieting, I try to get about 1500 cals/day in the form of 3 proteins, 3 fruits, 4 veggies, 4 starches, 2 dairy and 2 fats. At least 70 oz of water daily. Because I have a tendency to eat like a hostage on weekends, I juice-fast most Mondays. If I've had a deviant week (which ALWAYS happens in New Orleans), I'll do a cleanse when I return.
My workout is nothing fancy, just cardio (elliptical/treadmill/Zumba, etc.)4-5 days/wk and weight training once or twice a week. I try to break up the monotony with a random bootcamp or kettlebell session here and there.

Folks were passing out because they weren't eating, and as a dude I just can't see myself putting a pregnant woman's hormones in my system. It just seems off.

Honestly, I don't usually recommend it to folks because I agree, it's sorta off. It's a good amount of stress on your body and I certainly don't think it's anything one should do long-term. IDK about your coworkers passing out & ish, they were doing it wrong (not taking their vitamins, over-exerting themselves etc). It was a good option for ME (and my doctor approved...actually she recommended it) and I've seen good results. Like anything, you really need to do your research. Something as important as your physical health shouldn't be left to anecdotes and bandwagons.

Okay, cool thanks for the info. I know a bunch of folks currently on or who have recently done the HCG diet. All have lost LOTS of weight.
I think it is a productive option if a person has 20+ pounds to lose, tho the 500 calories per day thing scares me. I know of 1 person who (I think) lost too much and looks a little crazy.
Although 2 pounds per week is normal healthy weightloss, many people find difficulties keeping up that rate of loss over an extended period of time.
