It's too much to expect people to understand the grey area. "I'm OK with a step show but not a D9 type show" only sets up the problem. Everyone's interpretation of mimickry isn't the same.

You know in im Houston soror, so I know its "big business" here... Southie had a taste when she came down and was in awe! Just at our greek picnic.. a middle school group came out.. (sposored by a Alpha) and pretty much took home the stroll competition! Here are some pics.. That was some schit ^^^ those brothers had no business doing, because Project Alpha isn't about any one specific group of young men. It's an initiative to help young teen aged males understand the responsibilities and pitfalls (social, legal, educational, financial) of teen pregnancy from a MALE prospective. But just like in so many instances, things, some brothers take things where they're not supposed to go.

Damie is turning a corner.
I used to be ok with high schoolers stepping (for some of the same reasons Outtie laid out) ... but I'm starting to see something...
...stepping is like a gateway drug (if such a thing even exists). One day you're stepping, next day you're trying on a line jacket, next day you're trying to approximate something else you see in the D9 culture that you don't quite understand.
I dislike this. It's like watching other non-D9 orgs trying to be "like" us - but only mimicking the surface - and thus making a mockery of all of it. Truth! You read my mind with that assessment Damie...."trying to approximate something else in the D9 culture that YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!" And we know what will come after the STEPPING..... Then they go to college thinking that is ALL that BGLOs are about!
