In terms of Road Trips… I’m not that old, but even being a product of the mid 90’s prior to the internet craze, I clearly recall the road trip being GOLDEN and quite necessary during that era in Greekdom. The summer after my LB’s and I crossed, the Bros in my chapter practically made us spend time with our Dean traveling and linking with various chapters outside our area. Cause peep - Outside of the chapters you already know of as a fresh neo (ie: the ones you visited or who came to visit you while you were on line), you had to travel to get your name out there. You would test, get tested, connect, and form a link (outside of the obvious) with chapters on the road. It was about Chapter reputation and representation because automatic respect and acknowledgement wasn’t given as easy as it is appears to be today in 2010. Somehow, something must have changed along the way…because you hear about chapters now in greekdom that never even step foot off their own yard. Suspect.
100 HOURS OF PURE OMEGA FUN!
Where the party/events went on for 100 consecutive hours (NON-STOP & NO SLEEP)
I remember getting out of class on Thursday afternoon (packed on Wednesday night, bags in the trunk) & we hit the road almost every weekend after we crossed & I remember going to the St. Louis Classic in 1996 & I wasn't a Que for a full month yet!
WRECK FEST 1996! (NOT THE BEST MEMORY) But alas I digress,
I can't believe that WE (people) are FB other people & staying on thier own yards (State and.or District) but then again
"WE CAN'T ALL BE THE QUES, THERE MUST BE SOMETHING ELSE FOR OTHERS TO DO!"

ROO I'M OWT! TQ..I hear that cuz. I have many fond memories of those classic road trips w/ Frat. Nearly 15 years later, I’m older doing the family & career thing so being 5 carloads deep and putting mad miles on the whip is obviously a distant thing of the past – but when we was knee deep in the mix during undergrad, we did it to the fullest. No regrets. And like the legend Rakim said: “I have piles of pictures piled for when I go senile”. But dude, you must be out of your purple & gold mind if you think I’m going to engage in any prolonged activity (fun or not) that avoids me from getting some sleep for 100 consecutive hours straight. - - Nuff Said Zzzzz I’m Sleep! Good Post Iceman & I now some of us are grown & working with families & other obligations but I remember events like

HOT-FOOT, MUSTARD & MAYO FACIALS, KETCHUP & SYRUP IN YOUR SHOES OR HAT, PANCAKE MIX IN YOUR MOUTH, MAKEUP ON YOUR FACE, just to name a few things that I saw (maybe did) to others who fell asleep & YES there was pictures & videotape So I'm so glad that I didn't drink and/or fell asleep! |

If we had a room (which we did) I don't think I remember seeing it besides dropping off my bags & then picking them up when we got ready to leave, but it was beyond hilarious, I mean Bruhz was in the Lobby, The Hotel Restaurant, The Casino's just everywhere SLEEP!
especially on Sunday Morning I remember checking out & we had to literally step over some Bruhz in the hallway & on the elevators!
This was my introduction to the 7th District, now I'm not going to talk about Orlando, FL in 2009 or Atlanta, GA this year in 2010 - 7th District meetings |

Yea Team that sound like the scene at the Clave but District meeting are (in my opinion) worse, because when I moved here (7th District) in 2007 I had just went to my District meeting (I just missed the 7th District meeting) but we went to Tupelo, MS for the 7th District meeting in 2008 & the 5th District had thier district meeting at the same time it was suppose to be in Memphis, TN but they end up having them together.

This unfortunately HAS become the new microwave protocol. Why call when you can text? Why go from campus to campus to publicize an event when you can post a flyer on FB or a MB? Personal contact is becoming less and less standard. It's sad. You should recognize people because you've gone around and met them, not because you saw their pics splashed all over a page.
I like to see the whites of your eyes. I like to read your body language when I ask you something and see how long it takes you to respond. I gauge a lot from the nonverbals. I concur when you say you can make friends over the internet but as far as Delta business, we can't talk about that unless I've met you in some official capacity (you have a convention badge on, we met at a chapter meeting, you were introduced to me by someone reliable). I can meet you at a step show and I'll say "Hi Soror" but you gets no proprietary convo unless you've been verified and you can't do that over the net.
