I want to adopt this couple and their son for a day just to show them how to take care of his hair. I look clearly untouched matted hair, the mom's wig, the dad's fade and I just know that child is being tortured with a comb every week. And I know she won't take the advice I gave her.
Then again I don't understand why they don't just cut it off...
Poor kid.

Ok so several people recommended that I condition my hair and then not rinse it out, just squeeze the excess out, and then go through my normal styling routine. OMG, this made my hair so hard!!! I don't know if it was the conditioner I used or what but I will not be trying that again with that conditioner. A year in and I'm still trying to figure out what works for my hair....sigh

Oh yeah, I need a really creamy good conditioner. Suggestions?
And have any of you used cocoa butter in your hair versus shea butter?

Creme of Nature, Cantu, Joico, also don't sleep on the old school LeKair Cholesterol. I've never tried cocoa butter only olive oil, shea butter, or coconut oil.

A year in and I'm still trying to figure out what works for my hair....sigh I think it depends on the conditioner. I know some folks use regular conditioners as leave ins but it's probably certain ones that work that way. I'm almost at 3 years and I'm still figuring some things out. I have yet to perfect a wash n go (mainly because now I feel like I have to much hair and not enough patience, LOL).

The closest I've come to another butter is mango butter and that was the Elasta QP mango butter. I feel like I've heard some good things about using cocoa butter though. There is another butter that folks like but I can't think of the name right now.

It was from the maker of Megatek but was a protein free conditioner and cream rinse. Wasn't a leave in but I read you could use it as such. It was expensive as hayle but it's not doing anything for my hair. Maybe I'll give it to a friend of mine that breeds horses. I went to two stores looking for the Cholesterol with Shea butter and they were sold out I have the herbal cholesterol version but it's not creamy and doesn't really coat my hair.

I love the Shea butter cholesterol! I've been using it as a DC for a few years now and I add olive oil (I can't remember why though). I just hennaed my hair...friggin success. I'd usually follow up a DC but adding coconut milk to my recipe and using green tea instead of acv helped with the dryness. We're gonna try indigo on my mom's hair next but I'm hoping she changes her mind because her gray gorgeous. She gets so many compliments but she doesn't see the beauty.

I'm having a mini freak-out b/c I'm pretty sure I bought the wrong color hair just now. They were pressuring me to hurry up and I just picked something I thought was pretty (though it's WAY lighter than my hair...its a 4 and I'm a 1b). I'm getting an invisible part, so there's no need to blend, but I don't wanna get washed out like Melanie on The Game. They don't give refunds, only exchanges and they're fresh out of 1b and 2. I don't know WHAT made me think I could go into a hair store by myself and come out with a good decision, lol

LOL!!! I think a 4 would look good with your complexion. it would simply be a matter of wearing clothes to compliment the color

lol, thanks. It was BOGO and it was that fancy remy hair (I never get that ish...just whatever's normally $30/pack). As for wearing clothes to match, I intend to show more skin than fabric, so if it don't match with Caramelly Buttered Brown I'm taking that hoe back!

lol @ Caramelly Buttered Brown
You should have no issue, then. I can see that on you? What's the texture? I LOVE Remy's wet and wavy. it's my favorite 2-n-1 style. Straight and sleek that morning at the office. Wavy and chic that night on the town.

It's Remy Deep Wave. I know you can straighten it, but IDK whether it'll curl back up. Don't plan to wear it any other way than wild. And as this is my first (well, second really*) time having expensive hair, I hope to be able to use it again.
*The first time was that last invizipart I had (the cause of the crime-scene chic edges I'm rocking presently). It was pretty and fluffy in the pack, but that ish was nappy as the Dickens on my head. I had to rinse and denman brush it daily (with product!) in order to get it to look presentable. The next weave I got was like $27/pack and held me down throughout my back-to-back trips to Trinidad, Florida and Texas. It was tangle free and blended well but wasn't as big as I like it. You couldn't even tell I had added anything. I had some Outre (purple pack) hair when I studied abroad and that joint held me down for more than a month with no maintenance whatsoever. I haven't found it since.

i've heard of Outre but I'm not really familiar with it. Perhaps it's still sold online. Remy Deep Wave (if I'm thinking of the correct one) is really pretty.
I've learned that for Remy hair, the Optimum products (by Softsheen-Carson) work amazingly for at home maintainence. The spray on leave-in conditioner keeps it soft and bouncy. The hair spray is very light. It gives you he glossy, healthy hair look without feeling greasy and leaving residue behind

I cannot wait until I have enough hair to pull it back in a ponytail!!!!!!! But I gotta keep going (not give up and relax it) so I'll be good for the Africa trip in the fall.
Sidebar - on the shuttle from the airport to offsite parking the other day, three African women got on and all had long weaves. I shouldn't have been surprised but I was.
