We spend so much tiem worrying about intake that we miss the desperate need to re-alignment of our membership populations to our original purposes. Protocol and Traditions (that's what we call ours, not sure about you) should be working overtime to refocus our members on what it means to be a member of XYZ org and how to protect and preserve our traditions (protect the brand). We've debated this several times (junior auxillaries, pillow talk, etc.). Our members are helping non-D9 entities steal our traditions. This must stop. Let me repost it. I concur with the statement. And while we certainly have a number of issues to address, pretending that this isn't one of them it's what gets you things like the Sprite 2010 step off. But I digress... fiddle on Nero, fiddle on.

So the question of the hour is now....will We be participanting next year? How will any org gracefully bow out at this point without being accused of ducking the ZTAs? Apart from us hosting our own nation wide Step Show competition and making it a higher priority... to me it seems like you can't avoid participating without looking like you're taking issue with the non BGLO

LOL @ your new Shape Shifter Name: Twerk Team Spr 2010.Second... the Frats didn't get cheated this time. But there is no reasonable barrier to entry in the future given the ZTA's participation and success. Let Sig Ep come up in there doing Alpha steps and win a show and see what happens. No way they can logically be better than Alphas by mimicking Alphas. But to hear some tell it - we'd just have to tip our hats and congratulate Biff an' em.

If I was the Alphas (and I am) I would tip my hat....bow out of next year's competition and go home undefeated and with my dignity in tact. LOL!! Cause if Sig Ep got up there and did Alpha steps (and that's exactly what they would do) and WON......!
Nah, brothers need to bow out and get ghost. The sororities cant' bow out until one of you (BGLO's) win......

Okay, let's be real & say what everybody's thinking...
People, PLEASE stop teach the "others" our chyt!
EVERY time our beautiful, creative people create & master an art form, they seep in &, supposedly innocently, steal it from us.
It happened with gospel & jazz. It happened with hip hop & R&B. It's happened with practically EVERY art form considered distinctly 'American.'
It is happening RIGHT NOW with BGLO traditions, especially stepping. We are selling ourselves out, over & over again, and 'they' are walking away with the spoils of our people's hard work...every time.
It's ridiculous. Show some pride & love for our traditions...stop doing this chyt!
Yes, I know the hand I'm pointing has 3 fingers pointing back at my own (y'all know what colors I rock)...but it needs to be said. We need to hear it too, that's for dayum sure.
*hops down off soapbox*

While all this ranting and raving is going on (over here and on every other Greek-themed message board today,) ER'BODY will likely bow out the damned thing next year!! Either that, or the BGLOs will tell Sprite to segregate the step competition between us and the Cajuns.....CAU-cajuns, so we won't have this travesty to deal with again. Now...what will happen if/when one of our orgs' teams shows up with a *gasp* WHITE MEMBER!!!!! dun....dun....duuuuuuuuuun!

The funny chit I'm hearing is the reason why the AKA's lost is because of they hair flipping and antics in between steps. Like only non-bglo judges would do some chit like that. Everyone knows the AKA's are prissy thats their swag. How mofo lose points because of traditional swag? SMDH. Personally I think if those sistahs would have just stepped no music at all they would have won hands down. In my opinion the music hurt them. Folk have to understand the degree of difficult that is perceived from Gum Boot dance derived type stepping is easy for white folks to mimic. They won't be able to get the rhythmic movements down with it how folks in the bglo world who use it do BUT because of their stiffness they will be very precise with it. As for fraternities winning outside of BGLO I'd say that would probably come from a Latino or Asian frat before a Caucasian one.

Somehow I see a white member as a little different but i'm probably biased because we had one on my chapter's step team in UG.
I will be so disappointed if the D9 re-up this mess next year. Hopefully they'll hear their members' discontent and respond accordingly.

In all seriousness, I really don't expect a mass exit from this event. While the results will be debated until the rapture, the other teams that placed won a nice li'l piece of change (50,000.00 to the 2nd place winners and 25,000.00 to the 3rd.) Many of these chapters could sure as hell use those kinds of funds and the opportunity to make that much money in ONE step show will be a bit much to much to pass up.
And let's face the other blaring fact here people....many of our members simply LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to step!! That's what they do, that's why they joined! You won't keep that faction of our frats and sorors out of it....not a chance!

Yep. Text message votes. Wow. Maybe they thought better about this, conducted judging a different way, and just didn't update the website.

Riddle me this team... How the fuck Chi Theta wasn't in this show instead of these other chapters? Chi Theta arguably have some of the best teams in the 7th D if you don't include Tau Chapter. Also Not one 3rd D Team in the competition at all either? No Nu Psi? No Z Squad? No Kappa Psi? I can understand about us as we had some new pups coming through don't know wassup with the rest of the 2nd D... The Clave will be interesting though because the aforementioned teams have been very quiet. ESPECIALLY after what happened at the last Clave. lol

Unpopular opinion to follow:
I wouldn't say that anyone got robbed... mainly because the Becky's didn't suck. Granted, most of the excitement and points were probably based on the shock value and the amazement that you can have that many white folks on a stage with rythm, but the crowd was even giving them more love. From what I can tell they beat you (D9) at your own game. And folks can be mad about it, but in the end they were decent. They came in, no talking and just stepped and did their thing. Folks have been robbed in other step shows. The problem is that it's usually losing to the D9; in this case it's YT 1, Negii 0. Not sure why this was open to all (there were only Black folks in the Stomp the Yard equivelant LOL) but I don't think it's fair to be mad at them for winning. If anything we should be mad at us for losing. I didn't attend the show and I haven't seen every performance, but I'm trying to figure out why you all let them even get in the top 3. Where they do that at?
*Goes back to avoiding the Greek section*
