Why Don't Creativity and Professionalism Co-exist?
Ok, so I just got back from the nail salon...had a pedi appointment for my lunch break. I walk in and see a woman sitting in the pedi chair and my face must've screwed because she rolled her eyes like "WTF u looking @ me for??" so I sat down and decided to wait before I went all Leja. I noticed that the nail tech was just STARTING the other lady's pedi so I got all my stuff together and said "I need to resked. I'm on my lunchbreak." What I wanted to say: "I don't even need to know why you don't have your life together. But call me when you do."
Anyway, her answer: Oh, I forgot you were on lunch. What time is your break over?
Me: *real eye-rolly and rude* umm, in an hour
What I wanted to say: Don't worry about when my break is over. My appointment was for 1, even if I was OFF work today, you have an obligation not to waste my time
Her: well, you'll be up here this evening right? You wanna resked for then?
Me: I'll be up here for a HAIR appointment. If you want to do that, you need to speak to my stylist and work that out amongst yourselves
What I wanted to say: and I won't have her thinking I'm flaky because of YOUR inability to manage your appointment book
Her: Ok, 'cause yeah you do have a lot of hair; that'll take long. I'll speak to her.
what I wanted to say: Actually, don't.
I wonder if professional white women have these issues :loud sigh:

If they (PWW) have a problem it gets fixed real fast when they pitch a b*tch. However, when we do so it's said that we 1.Have an attitude 2. Are unprofessional 3. Have an attitude 4.Complain too much 5.Have an attitude 6.Are disruptive 7.Have an attitude.
That's why I no longer go anywhere that the service is proven to be bad or I was screwed over. My capital is power. Respect my earnings that I chose to give to you to help you make a living.
They need us just as much(if not more than) we need them.

^^ i wish this were 100% true for me.
This nail chick is the most talented I have come across. I WILL NOT go back to the APs. Period. And as far as the 25-20s, I paid 50 damn dollars for a pedicure at a fancy schmancy spa back in the spring and it the worst ish ever. I could've done 5 times better in my own bathtub, so that's a big No Happs.
The only other talented Black nail tech (that I banged with HARD)...come to find out she isn't licensed and she never has been. She was ousted from my current salon and went to an AP spot. The fact that they would even hire an unlicensed jawn is evidence enough that I won't be setting foot in there. My only other option is to stop getting my nails done, and I don't see why I should have to do that.

I'm taking out my twists at work. Why? I'm done working, I don't wanna be here anymore. I'm looking forward to my hair appointment tonight.
In other news...I got my mineral makeup in the mail yesterday. I'm wearing it for the first time today. I'm wearing my normal eyeshadow...ain't payin for all that crap all over again just so it can say "mineral" on the container. I DEW gotta cop some mineral blush tho. And some all-day wear lipstick for the wedding
I sure hope the dress I ordered to wear to the party this weekend arrives today, or else I gotta re-arrange my situation.

What brand of mineral makeup did you get? Bare Escentuals. I got the: medium dark foundation + golden dark foundation, for when I come back from sunny vacations. (shout out to all my haters who be doubtin my brown-ness!) warmth (the sunkist bronzer situation) tinted translucent mineral veil (for mattifying and deshinifying, but tinted for black chicks so as to not look all silvery) prime time (under-foundation/over-moisturizer primer) and 3 or 4 brushes |

Ok, so I called to check on my dress. Apparently because it weighs less than a pound, they took it upon themselves to send it US mail instead of UPS/FedEx. So there's no tracking number. So I don't know when (if ever) it will arrive. So I most likely have to buy another dress in the morning. Why me?

And I just got an email that my boss is going to be out of the office all next week. Which means...he won't be able to sign off on any of these decisions until he gets back. Which means...what's the damn rush for me to finish editing this decision, it ain't goin out til August 3 at the very earliest nohow.

So my dress came about an hour before I hit the road for the party. The party was EXCELLENT. I'm so glad I went.

In other news, I just came back from meeting with my research assistant. It's like a whole new world in this piece. I had all this crap on my mind that I didn't feel like/have time to research, and what did I do? Just assign it to her. It's friggin beautiful. Is that what personal assistants are like and if so, where can I cop one?
