you read it correctly. The pastor is tripping. His 22 year old son physically abused a little girl at our church. He's dating her sister who has, well, HAD custody of her. He took some kind of file and literally scrubbed the skin off of her stomach and back then threw alcohol all over her. when she cried and screamed, he punched her in the face. The lil girl is 12.
Now his daddy, the PASTOR, is saying turn the other cheek. Don't testify. Let God handle it. He who is without sin cast the first stone. Really? Really, tho? You for real? Yea, he for real.
Shaking my durn head.

APIL, religion is a crutch to many. Education is a vice to many. Ignorance is a narcotic to most. You......you simply survive. Which is dangerous to all!

GuestD9, I thought you were just some alter in the OO thread. If you're gonna be posting all over this board, you need to go to the Newbie thread and formally introduce yourself. Seriously.

Not an alter. Was an active on OO and started an OOA account months ago, but forgot the password and email account I set it up with. Don't feel like going through that whole intro stuff again. I am not new, but if I find that I am posting frequently, I will go back and do all of that introduction drama.

i hate how someone gets all super Christian, reciting Bible verses left and right, praising God, falling out in the Spirit, etc. overnight only for them to be cursing you out the next day. Jesus never said the journey to perfection in God's eyes would be easy, so why do you feel the need to put on a show like it happened for you overnight? Little by little, step by step. The higher you try to climb, the longer you'll have to fall.

^^As a matter of fact, I just read this morning in Matthew 6:1 that we should not "practice our righteousness" in front of other people for their approval because God will certainly reject it. These folks better be careful. Imagine your entire spiritual "walk" being comprised of things God hates. I get queasy just thinking about the road some folks are voluntarily walking down.

I have not been to church this year. We launched webcasts of the sermons and now I'm a bedside Baptist. Gotta get back in the game.

[glow=red,2,300]Finding Peace.... [/glow] Seven A's of Confession 1.Address everyone involved (All those whom you affected) 2.Avoid if, but, and maybe (Do not try to excuse your wrongs) 3.Admit specifically (Both attitudes and actions) 4.Acknowledge the hurt (Express sorrow for hurting someone) 5.Accept the consequences (Such as making restitution) 6.Alter your behavior (Change your attitudes and actions) 7.Ask for forgiveness See Matthew 7:3-5; 1 John 1:8-9; Proverbs 28:13.
Four Promises of Forgiveness 1."I will not dwell on this incident." 2."I will not bring up this incident again and use it against you." 3."I will not talk to others about this incident." 4."I will not let this incident stand between us or hinder our personal relationship."

So heavy laden and burdened down I did not know just what to do So I went and I prayed for strength to endure Jesus said, “Be still. I will see you through” So I tried Him. And I know Him. He’ll stick closer than any brother. Oh, I tried Him. And I know Him. He’s been better to me than I’ve been to myself. There could never be a friend as dear to me as Jesus.
So now when you go through all your trials and your test Please don’t look, don’t look to men for they’ll let you down. See, there is just one, just one, just one who will go with you to the end. His name is Jesus, Jesus, my Jesus. He’ll tell you watch, fight, and win. So I tried Him. And I know Him. He’ll stick closer than any brother. Oh, I tried Him. And I know Him. He’s been better to me than I’ve been to myself. There could never be a friend as dear to me as Jesus

This is from today's "PeaceMeal" by Peacemaker Ministries.
Congratulations: You've Been Promoted to Management!
Seeing conflict as an opportunity leads to an amazingly effective approach to managing conflict, which I refer to as "stewarding." This approach gives the phrase conflict management a unique emphasis. When Jesus talked about managing something, he was usually referring to a servant who had been entrusted by his master with certain resources and responsibilities (e.g., Luke 12:42). The Bible calls such a person a steward. A steward is not supposed to manage things for his own pleasure, convenience, or benefit. Instead, he is expected to follow his master's instructions and look out for his master's interests, even if they conflict with his own personal desires or convenience (John 12:24-26).
The concept of stewardship is especially relevant to peacemaking. Whenever you are involved in a conflict, God has given you a management opportunity. He has empowered you through the gospel and entrusted you with abilities and spiritual resources. His Word clearly explains how he wants you to manage the situation. The more faithfully you draw on his grace and follow his instructions, the more likely you are to see a constructive solution and genuine reconciliation.
Taken from The Peacemaker: A Biblical Guide to Resolving Personal Conflict by Ken Sande, Updated Edition (Grand Rapids, Baker Books, 2003) pp. 38-39.
Food for Thought With the economy struggling as it is, most of us are grateful to even have a job, let alone worry about trying to get a promotion. But remember, you already have been promoted to management! So are you being a good steward of the conflict God has given to you to manage on His behalf? Are there any conflicts you are "stewarding" today according to your own desires--rather than His desire? Are there any conflicts you are managing by your principles rather than His? With God's grace, any conflict you're facing can be transformed by seeing it as a stewardship opportunity for which He has given you ample resources to manage. Remember: God is the best manager of all. He would never give you a responsibility without the resources to meet that challenge.

Lovers of Pleasure More Than Lovers of God" "But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God – having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them." (2 Timothy 3:1-5) "For everything in the world – the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does – comes not from the Father but from the world."
