Dr. King was a notorious philanderer, but does that negate the validity of his message?
The Cos ain't perfect, Lawd knows he ain't, but from what I see around me (people patting young girls on the back when they get pregnant, mamas telling their sons NOT to pay child support, Flavor of Love, BET, HBO and video games raising kids) I think he is mostly right.
The Man ain't making black folks (like Reign's lil' sister Riskay ) act an ass. Black folks are acting an ass because they want to.
I understand that much of what lower class blacks are exposed and subjected to is institutionalized, but when do WE accept responsibility and become accountable to our own??

Well let me count the ways....This clown decides at a convenient time that he will offer a referendum on Black America sort of like Oprah after years of caking up and staying silent while black communities were flooded with drugs and crime. Yeah I said it.....if you can show me a brother with planes and a connect to get pass customs at every border then I will digress until then have a glass of shut the hell up and listen. You have city, county and national government mandating social and educational programs with benchmarks and then underfunding them....Check NO Child Left behind. Go to B-more and DC and look at how the School district heads and admins are getting paid but they don't have adequate books, can't pay quality teachers and don't have the computers to keep up in the classroom or adminstratively to do schedules. This clown doesn't have the balls to offer the same criticism to the government. He doesn't address the working poor who are killing themselves to live while being socked by sky rocketing energy, food and housing cost that congress and state government isn't doing anything about. Black folk didn't get to this state by themselves. They have accountability for part of it but don't get it twisted this was planned. You cats come on here and talk about 2520's and YT and then cosign this mess like there is no racism or injustice. Black folks catch hell and its uppitty negroes like Bill and those who think like him that stand by and watch because they were fortunate enough to avoid the pitfalls that plague a lot of people. Please explain how its totally black folks fault that we are 13% of the populations but make up 85-90% of those locked up. Explain why people get jail time for killing dogs but when a black person get killed cops get off...Diallo, Bell cases? Wake the hell up and free ya mind. There is more to the plight of black folk then just We Got to do better. That is obvious but when those who are trying meet up with roadblock after roadblock that is rooted in what they look like instead of talent, knowledge and hardwork how do you explain it. Get off this BS I got mine now you get yours. The biggest problem with this message is that there is a lot of rhetoric but no solutions or actions. And I don't want to hear about 5 scholarships to hampton or donating to Spelman or Morehouse. Get your arse in the community and help. Advocate for injustice even if it cost you. Oprah got political for the first time this year with Barack. She started in 1985...there have been 5 elections since then and now she decides to speak up. How freaking convenient. PAul Robeson and Dick Gregory are cats I respect. they put themselves, their careers and lives on the line to help folks even if it cost them money, jobs, etc. Is Bill doing that? Nope he is just validating what people say about us without holding them accountable which sets us back. Now the next time you catch hell don't complain Do Better. IF you cosign that don't come up here talking about YT, racism or the like because according to Bill that doesn't matter....you just have to do better. :smh:
SHEEP....I tell you.

Search I feel you, but I think that Cos is encouraging us to do the basic things to make our lives better because we don't have any control over the government, big business and the like.
Keisha knows she can't afford to pay her bills, so why does she not make "Reggie, the wannabe Rick Ross" wear a condom? She watches BET all day. I KNOW she sees the "Rap it Up" ads . . .
Here, they give them away at the health department for FREE.
"The System" is designed in a way for us to fall into the traps laid out. No, they're not going to fund our schools properly, that's why parents (who most likely chose to have children) MUST be involved in their children's education from Day 1.
If poor parents were mor involved in PTO/A, school boards and the like, we wouldn't have to beg and scream for proper funding of our schools. The achievement level of the students would dictate that resources be allocated to them parallel to the progress of the students. And if the powers that be wanted to trip, the progress of the students and the enthusiam of the parents would serve as powerful evidence that they need resources. And they will get them!
I mentor in a school that is suffering from low enrollment, failing test scores and low morale. There was only one parent at the Volunteers' Luncheon . . .
We know that the welfare system encourages us to be shifltess and dependent on the government. That's why Keisha MUST make "Reggie, the wannabe Rick Ross" strap-up every time.
MANY of us are first generation college grads. We know that it's not easy and there are traps laid out for us, so it is up to the people who have it to reach back and pull someone else up.
That's what Cos is saying. I think.

Search you gotta stop it man!!! I see what Search is saying, but mentioning the Vick case was a bad example, in my opinion. Vick isn't in jail because of racism. Vick is in jail because he did the crime. Is it messed up that he's in prison for killing dogs, while others are free? YES. But its his own fault. Thats exactly what Cosby is talking about. We can't blame others before we look at our own actions.

So tell me how you send a black man to jail for killing some dogs but set cops free for killing (they reloaded mind you) unarmed black men?? There is a SERIOUS injustice. Because it would cost them. They are hypocrites. Oprah got on innercity youth for always asking her for stuff when she came to schools but always is giving stuff away on her show. Now that is some ish? She promotes STUFF but heaven forbid kids want stuff from her. Kids aren't stupid they know what she is about and what she promotes but she has nerve to paint them as having no interest in education and only is material things and that is why she sends money to Africa. :smh: She sends money there because that is what is envogue.

The only justice in the Sean Bell case will be a million-dollar settlement.
They are trying to get the feds to look into it like they did for one of the other cases (I think it was the Diallo case).
On the other hand, niggas know that the cops are out to get them! If you are in the NFL making millions, why not use your money to open a movie theatre on the south side or do some real estate development? That way, you can give your criminal friends legit jobs AND make money the legal way??

Cosby nor, King, nor Jessie Jackson can stop the injustices that are going on in the country regarding Justice . He isn't TRYING TO. He's simply trying to wake Black People up to the realizatino that they WILL be punished harder for the same crimes that YT's do. So WHY DO THE CRIME IF YOU KNOW THE PENALTY?

For the record I agree Cos is calling us out. He is making valid points. Airing ALL our dirty laundry and that doesn't bother me -not one lil' bit. He speaks truths!! As long as he is giving back to the community however wamake a difference in just one persons life you are making a difference. However, our race as a whole is damned all to hell if WE don't do y he's doing it be it scholarships or whatever, it can and will make a difference. If you can something, anything just do it. We can sit back and complain ALL day long. We need to hear it, do something about it and move forward as a people. The first step to solving a problem is admitting we have some (which Cosby tends to do) and WE HAVE ISSUES!! If you're not apart of the solution then you are apart of the problem...
