I hope I'm not misunderstanding this post...Well as an Iota Sweetheart I dont think its wrong for having an informational about sweethearts. BUT what we do in MY chapter is when we have interest meetinsg, we have them AS A CHAPTER BUT it is important to inform young ladies of Iota Sweethearts. But its important that young ladies have time to talk strictly with the sweethearts and for interested young men to talk strictly with the brothers. Everything cannot and should not be mixed. Thats some of the struggles of having females inside a fraternity.how can you have females inside of a fraternity? That's an oxymoron right there. An auxiliary is an attachment, not inclusive to the group. But with maturity and wisdom of chapters, it can be done successfully, and has been done within my undergraduate chapter. I dont think Iota is becoming mainstream. Iota having the only sweetheart auxilary affiliated nationally is far beyond the norm of other auxilary organizations. I just think that Iota is just realizing that it takes a LADY to make a lady. A brother of Iota cant show a potential sweetheart how to be a gracious lady. But with supervision I think its necessary for both parts both brothers and hearts to help make sweethearts.Speaking from my own experience & observation of Diamonds,Angels & Pearls; "elder sweethearts" would guide/tell us what sweethearts did or did not do. HOWEVER, since we were trying to be an AUXILIARY ORG it was up the to the members of the Fraternity to allow us to assist their pledgees AT THE TIME OF THE PLEDGE PROCESS. Only the Sigmas could "dismiss" a sweetheart, not another sweetheart from any of the previous lines. There was no such thing as becoming a Sigma Sweetheart because it was the thing to do-there had to be CRESCENTS in existence. If all the crescents dropped,THERE WAS NO NEED FOR SWEETHEARTS. We were "little sisters",we were NEVER confused to think we were SISTERS. Ive never seen an Angel,Pearl or Diamond "slip up" and call an Alpha,Que or Kappa "my brother". Just like it takes a mother and a father to raise a child, thats how i look at it. From this post, its sounds like Iota needs to make these young ladies into a sister sorority instead of calling them sweethearts. From what I read it seems like they are doing way more than any sweetheart is supposed to be doing. The deserve to get sorority status for all the things theyre doing.

Well, I mean that can be your opinion as far as the greek organization you are apart of, and the brother organization you have a relationship with. I can see why their would be riff with sorors and the frat vs the frat and the sweethearts. But that's your opinion. I recently saw on facebook where some Iota Sweethearts were having an informational. It is totally against our constitution for sweethearts to make other sweethearts. I guess thats what happens when a sweetheart org. starts acting like an org. For better or worse, my fraternity is slowly but surely becoming mainstream. sweethearts should be banned! That was one thing I like about the Greeks up at Howard.. I asked if they had sweet, and one of the Sorors was like oh now, we dont have that mess here! lol

Thanx frat...but thats okay. I dont need a welcome or an introduction. My presence alone is all the intro tha I need. This is me 555 days of the year. I just offer some history and knowledge and solutions to the problems about WHY auxilaries are the way that they are. Auxilaries have become so out of control because there is NO STRUCTURE!!! But I cant speak that about my brothers because Iota Sweethearts are structured and kept within boundaries. Like another brother said on another board, "Iota Sweethearts go with the flow of Iotas". LOL not here for anyone else, people will say what they want, have their views and opinions. I just hope that people make educated opinions and not ignorant ones.

Well thats what a lot of people seem to say. A lot of people question why we aren't in a 3 lettered organization. TO ME, having 3 letters dont change the service. I joined this organization to have that brotherhood I felt I was always neglected of having growing up. WE DO a lot in the frat. We do a lot FOR the frat. But its the principles of Iota Phi Theta that actually speak to my heart, and was part of the reason why I chose to be apart. WE ARE the auxilary, but we are apart of the fraternity, we exists inside of iota, not as a seperate entity. Whether I have 5 letters and a heart or just 1 letter and a heart, my work and my service and dedication to the community as a sweetheart wont change. To be honest, all the work in Iota Ive done, Ive earned beyond 3 letters, because its what you do for the org not while your going through the process that makes you earn your respect. My brothers respect me, I respect myself, I respect the trials, tribulations, joys, and triumps that came from the 2yrs Ive beenn in the frat so far...and what greeks or non greeks, or haters, whoever have to say doesnt phase me. I hope I'm not misunderstanding this post...Well as an Iota Sweetheart I dont think its wrong for having an informational about sweethearts. I will say this. Iota Sweethearts are apart of the constitution and bylaws of Iota Phi Theta. We are a sweethearts of the fraternity. Auxilary is a term used to identify sweetheart organizations not to be confused with "sorority". But being as though we exist INSIDE Iota....we're not ATTACHMENTS. We are not a separate organization. {If that clears everything up} I hope I'm not misunderstanding this post...Well as an Iota Sweetheart I dont think its wrong for having an informational about sweethearts.
