Now that my real nails have grown out and I've been experimenting with polishes and painting my own nails I realize all polishes are not made equally. Im through with the cheap polishes that have fun/cute colors I need to upgrade to something more long lasting. I really like Essie but dang it's so expensive!

My co-worker just GAVE me a M.A.C. palette pre-filled with 6 colors now I only have to get the other 9 colors. Too excited!!! I like free stuff especially makeup.

I just started using Mary Kay's "lash love" mascara and it's serious rap the best one I've tried to date. Has a rubber applicator like define-a-lash but the formula is a little different. One coat will do ya.

Turns out I am a bridesmaid in a evening wedding in less than 1 month. I'm thinking a nude lip and ultra smoky eyes. I've contemplated a red lip (dress is red), but I'm a little color shy on lips plus I don't wanna overdo it, not my day.
Thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions?

i LOVE red lips, but I agree. Not your day. (and w/the dress being red...kinda the most)
I'd def do a nude (not clear) lip. Not a huge smoky eye fan (actually I dislike the smokey eye generally). If it were me, I'd do a classic neutral color eye (w/dark corners, but not completely smoked out) and do my lower eyeline in a color complimentary to the dress. Red on eyes might be kind wild, but maybe a copper or a dark gold? Falsies on top and bronzer + blush. Good to go.

I was thinking the following: Nude (pink/brownish lips)-I have 2 bomb OCC lip tars for this Nude wash over entire eye Shimmery highlight under brow Gold for inner eye Dark brown for outer eye/crease and smoke it out with a little tiny black added over dark brown in the V Regular Foundation (NARS Sheer Matte, MAC pressed finishing powder on top) NARS Dolce Vita blush Ardell Demi Wispies on top lashes Black liquid liner with a little winged out tail Black liner (NYX Jumbo Pencil in the black color) on outer half of lower lash line

iSupport your entire eye plan. How do you apply the jumbo black bean liner on your lower lash line? I use it for my waterline all the time, but for the lower lash line I need something smaller and more precise.
Do you normally choose between blush OR bronzer? Ever wear both together? (I love doing this, btw)
As for liquid liner...I like to go nuts with technique when I'm forced to keep the colors simple. Ever seen a bottom wing? It's sometimes called inverted eyeliner. Also, I do white on my waterline sometimes when I know I'm going to be in photos. Gives it that extra edge like you definitely went to a makeup artist.

other news: I need a new red lipstick. The one I had (NYX Black Label in Ruby) fell out of my purse on vacay. I used to wear a pigmented garnet gloss over that one. Eventually, when I got less color-shy I just wore a clear red gloss over it. I bought a cheapie repalcement lipstick from the BSS and it came out more magenta. My next red lipstick will be slightly less bright, perhaps more garnet than ruby.

I literally just apply the Jumbo pencil the same way I would a normal liner. I like it much better because it goes on smoother and easier IMO. And the color is fierce. The creamy texture is wassup. I probably should have said lower water line and lash line. I don't own any real bronzer. I have purchased at least 2 products which were supposed to serve as bronzers but I ended up quitting on both. One was an ELF all over color thingy. The other was some type of goldish stuff that spilled all over one of my makeup bags. Any suggestions for bronzer? MAC Mineralize Skin Finish has attracted my attention. Thoughts? Suggestions? I am not opposed to wearing both blush and bronzer. I have seen the bottom/inverted wing. I will try this out at home to see if I like it. As for white eye liner, I might try this look with my Jumbo Pencil in Milk for my inner corners to top off the look. Any suggestions welcome b/c: 1) I am building up my collection since folks are starting to request that I do their makeup for special occasions. 2) I have a feeling that I will end up doing the bride's makeup! (I have NO problems with this, it's FUN for me. Just wanna be ready!)

I've tried 3 bronzers and they all have their high and low points:
1. Milani Tan-tastic Baked Bronzer-- I currently use this, it has that marbled swirly effect and and the shimmer is very fine. I wear it almost daily
Pros: Very natural looking; looks sunkist rather than sparkly Cons: the container is pretty big, I don't care for traveling with it
2. Wet-N-Wild BronZZer-- I use this when I can't find the Milani one
Pros: super cheap and super compact Cons: can be a little orangey. Is moreso glittery than shimmery, therefore requires more blending than I feel like doing.
3. CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Mineral Bronzer-- I've not yet met the queen collection product I didn't adore!
Pros: very fine shimmer, can be worn alone Cons: barely noticeable when worn over foundation. Good for the office, not so much for photos

As for white eye liner, I might try this look with my Jumbo Pencil in Milk for my inner corners to top off the look. this is exactly what I do. You're right, the texture of the jumbo pencils can't be beat. My friend (BKPearl08, if u remember her) depots hers into a jar. M'eh. I like it fine in the stick form. For that reason, I recommend you get a concealer palette and a blush palette if you don't already have both. I got both mine from bhcosmetics.com. I say palettes are your friend! My makeup artist carries around pots and it's highly inefficient, IMO. I have coastalscents' two 88 palettes (not a huge fan of the shimmery one, I pretty much only use it on other people), a 120 palette and a 26 palette from bh. I also have a 32 palette from elf that I use mostly for eyebrow and cheek contour purposes. Clients can provide their own foundation. I also have brushes designated for clients and separate ones for personal use. I carry around a spritz brush cleaner in my makeup bag. I haven't yet found a sanitary method for sharing tubes of lipgloss. I could use a disposable applicator, but if regularly use the attached applicator on myself, then my germs are still down inside the tube. However, I do own a 66-color lipgloss palette (also from bhcosmetics) that I used to do makeup for a fashion show.

@leja: I plan on getting a concealer palette from Coastal scents or Graftobian. Still deciding. I need additional brush sets. I have the disposable lip gloss applicators.
I disinfect with 90% alcohol in a spray bottle, and clean brushes with warm water and mild dish detergent...may switch over to baby shampoo or shampoo for color treated hair.
I have 3 Coastal Scents eyeshadow palettes (Warm, Shimmery, Creative Me #1)...also not impressed with the shimmery one...my least fave.
I will probably go and cop the Milani bronzer per your recommendation. I've had my eye on it too.
How do you use yours BTW? I'm thinking down the middle of the nose, middle of forehead, apples of cheeks...

Hmmm I might have to look into bhcosmetics.com. There pots are way cheaper than MACs wonder if it will fit my palette.

@diva, I use bronzer down my jawbone, around my hairline and on my cheekbones. I wear blush on the apples of my cheeks. I skip my nose only because I powder it frequently (and sometimes contour it)

I think I will try my hand at cheek contouring tonight. Not doing anything special to my eyes, but I'd like to play up my face and lips. Anybody ever tried it?
