Are there any other John Edwards supporters here? I still support him--I really like him the best out of all of the three viable Democratic candidates (I really like Dennis Kucinich, but he ain't "viable". ;D ) but it looks as if his time may be over. I feel he has gotten lost in the shuffle. Personally, I like his plans and his message the best, but he's receiving little media attention, and since the other two candidates are "historic" he really isn't getting a fair shake, IMHO.

I was favoring Kucinich, however he does not get the "shine" like Obama and Hillary. Anyway, he is out of the race. I am waiting on Edwards to back out also.

I like Edwards. Kucinich is supposed to be dropping out to save his seat in Congress... plus he never got any press or large support from the party.

Pretty good. I had a really busy week with work and meetings. But it was cool. I had to get new axels on my car and I need new tires too... so needless to say I'm gonna be laying low until pay day.

I think my mom is voting for Edwards because she voted for him the last time or she didn't get to vote for him the last time or something crazy like that, lol. She's really resistant to change in general. I'm not gonna say I've just been doing hella research about the candidates but I don't think she knows really anything about the other 2. And I kind of feel like she's not for Obama because she hasn't heard of him until now. I told her it's a new day and a new time and that she should at least look at the other candidates.

My mom and uncle (her brother) are Hillary backers. They are falling victim to the black babyboomer view that they can't support him "JUST" because he's black.
My mother says that media personalities like Tom Joyner and Oprah are making him a "black" candidate and that's not a bandwagon they are going to jump on.
Listening to them almost pisses me off. One reason is because Obama could easily be me or Damie or EPUN! And according to their own words Are they saying that they wouldn't support a "black" candidate because they don't want to be VIEWED as being a victim of "Black Groupthink"? WTF?
But if you remember back when Obama didn't choose to announce his candidacy at Tom Joyner and Tavis Smileys "State of the Black Union" gathering, they claimed that he was avoiding black folks. WTF?

Parents are a trip. I don't even want to know who my dad is voting for and why. I doubt it's Obama though. I think he's a fan of Sharpton and the rest of the "Black leaders" and they aren't fans of Obama.
Maybe they're just stuck in a really old mindset. I just know this isn't a discussion I'm having with either parents...it won't be pretty, lol.

I hope Obama wins without ANY of the old guards support. That way he won't be beholden to any of them. These people who are lining up for Clinton, I'm still trying to figure out:
1. What exactly it was that the Clintons did for blacks 2. What exactly these people who are supporting that Clintons have done for black people in the last 2 decades?

WTF? Great question, Cam. What I don't understand is why we can't support one of our own because he's one of our ow?? Everyone does it. You know that if an Irish person had openly said they weren't going to vote for JFK, there would have been hell to pay. We have to stick together if we are going to pull ourselves up.
Barak Obama's face is that of a growing GLOBAL political landscape. It ain't just lily white overseas. The U.S. needs to jump on the bandwagon of social change and ethnic acceptance if we are really going to complete in global politics.
I see that Obama is a viable candidate and I'm voting for him in the primary and if he's blessed to make it to the big race, I'm voting for him then, too and I dare someone to say that I'm just voting for him because he black. damnit, I am.

EXACTLY!!!
I too am hoping that he wins without the help of the "Old Guard." There are a lot of African Americans in policital leadership positions who are constantly snubbed as being too young or too inexperienced by the old guard.
It's up to us to call for and act in favor of a passing of the torch. We must demand that these so called leaders reliquenish their grasp of the Black conscience and allow it to grow on it's own.
Also, we must perform. We have to do the right thing when no one is looking. We must be prepared to take charge and prove that we belong there after we gain that power.
Power concedes nothing without demand. So far, no one has made any serious demands.

Again, I'm still wondering... Charlie Rangel, Shelia Jackson-Lee, Rob Johnson, when was the last time they did something for black folks? Can anyone remember?
And yet the continue to get elected? So I wonder...
...wouldn't it be ironic if they were only getting their votes because they're black?

Also....how many white folks DIDN't vote for Obama because he was Black? No one is asking that question.

LOL - even funnier. If 85% of the Congressional Black Caucus supports Hillary and she doesn't win the primary... how are they going to spin their way out of that? And if Obama becomes President...
...what prevailing interest would he have in meeting with them? They will have made themselves entirely irrelevant.

LOL!!
I feel safe in my support of Obama. I belive in not only his ideas but in the idea of his movement. It's refreshing.
If he loses the primary, then i'll probably support Hillary in the general election but I wont apologize for supporting Obama.

Here's my deal: I like Obama, and he is my second choice. The ONLY reason he's not my first choice is because Edwards' Populist Platform resonates the most with me (he's even described as "radical" by some--and I like that! LOL). His plan for health care is the best I've seen. He talks the most about poverty, and the fact that there are "Two Americas". He talks seriously about taking on these large corporations that do so much wheeling and dealing and end up paying off politicians, who then pass laws that help the companies--but not the people of this country.
Having said all that, I feel like the "Old Guard" is full of ish, and I have felt that way for many years. I really wish that the media would just stop interviewing them and looking to them as the "voice" of Black America. The media really needs to update their Rolodexes and find other intelligent, professional, highly-educated African-Americans to talk interview. There is *NO* need to bad-mouth Obama the way they're doing. He has good ideas, he is just as strong of a candidate as anybody else, and I think he'd do a good job as president.

I like John, but I didnt want him to run.
I really think he should be with his wife right by her side during her battle with cancer..
He can run for president later, but if she does, that's it! All the traveling, campaigning, debateing... its tiring im sure. He cant give her his 100% and that's what she needs right now..
I just think about what if it were me! If we've been married all these years.. and its you running for office of me possibly loosing my life... I choose me and you should too!
I guarantee, he gets a lot more female votes the next time around!
