LOL - I'm sorry this thread has gone crazy even by OO standards. It's almost like listening to celebrities bemoaning the attention of media which they on one hand they cannot tolerate while on the other hand not live without.
When we discussed this before I think the conclusion that some of us came to was that it's not that people don't want attention, they just want it, when they want it, how they want it, and who they want it from and to be able to turn it off when they like. And like celebrity - it doesn't work that way.

I get and understand the point concerning men that can't keep their hands to themselves.. I agree with the women of this thread who feel they shouldn't have to worry about dudes invading personal space. Other than that, I agree with what Damie said..

Boys and Men approach girls and women differently. You will INSTANTLY know who and what you are dealing with when they do. NO ONE likes to be disrespected or assulted so an ill response to that is to be expected. However, the bottom line is they thought you were the "cat's meow" to try and holla at you. You ain't gotta like how it's done but folks like what they like and you not wanting it to happen ain't gonna stop who they are and how they come at you. All actions get reactions but actions WILL occur.

While I would love to Damietize that final conclusion that I bolded in my post, it is not something that Damie declared, it is what OO (men and women) kind of concluded after all the back and forth the first time we talked about this - I'm just reminding you all of what WE said.
Actually, it may have been Outtie (if I'm not mistaken) that actually drew the conclusion first to which we all generally agreed

Also... I do empathize with those getting harassed... I truly do... just like I empathize with celebrities when paparazzi lose their mind and get on some "jump the fence with telephotic lenses to film you taking a dump" type ish... I don't deny that "SOME" dudes can truly take things too far (we all have mothers, sisters, daughters, cousins whatever the case may be) who we wouldn't allow to be harassed in that fasion. I don't excuse the actions of dude-hos just because they're on the hunt for counterpart hos...
...but I also know that there are "SOME" women that respond to this behavior (and thus encourage it).
I also know that some of the ways that some of the women on this board have said they would like for a guy to approach them, are "deal breakers" for other women. That "excuse me miss" turns some women off like you called them a b!tch.
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that (what works for you, works for you, what doesn't, doesn't) - I'm just asking that you see the complete picture. While you may expect a dude to approach you one way, another woman expects another approach, and he has no idea which one you favor going in - he's flying blind EACH time he approaches. Cut him some slack.
Same for dudes. Sometimes it's not your approach, sometimes a woman just doesn't want to be bothered. Maybe the a$$hole in the club beat you to the punch saying hi to her, and now she's just not receptive to anything. IIWII. Charge it to the game and keep moving.

This exact situation eventually led to the creepy gym masturbator guy in my old apt complex. Kyng knows about him; he bothered me every time he saw me for months... Proud to say that he ended up going to jail & getting banned from the property. Some stuff is just WAY outta line, man. Right. It's gotten to where I'm willing to drive 15 minutes to another Lenny's rather than got to the one 2 minutes down the street.
