She didn't even get ANY good blows in? A soldier? People forget that the South is still the South even in 2009. Living in Atlanta can make you forget that sometimes.

You just have to be more careful, especially with a black president, where you go down in the south. There are some places that I just won't stop at when traveling or be the only black person there in certain areas of my state just as a precaution. It's sad that I have to do that, but it is what it is. |

All the lady was doing is taking her child to eat and then this fool….and her child had to watch that…..I can’t even think about this one. Part of me wants to believe that they let him out only to get his ass beat. I'm the same way about going to "strange places" here to. Oh and I ONLY stop at gas stations/restaurants that I can see from the highway when I'm traveling. If I get off and don't see a gas station or something I get right back on the highway. |

Am I wrong to hope that the black officers who just may happened to be a veteran/reservist, husband and a father beat the shyt out of this dude. Am I wrong to think that there reasoning for doing it is that could of been their wife and child?

You know one of my observations in life is this:
People either already are, or eventually become the things they hate.
And each time I hear one of these meat puppets go on an irrational tirade about how the President is destroying their lives - or incidents like these were white men suddenly become courages in confronting our women - I can feel myself slipping a little further to the dark side...
...I can feel myself becoming hateful and as bigoted and as racist as them. After reading this article I feel a white blinding rage - not just that it happened, but that I don't think it would have happened if a black man had been there. fucking cowards. bitch made craven cowards. The outrage wouldn't be the same. I know why it wouldn't - but consistency is consistency and my responses wouldn't necessarily be consistent.
For me - it's about connection. I don't have to KNOW a black woman to defend her against a white person. I'd still do something about a black dude assaulting a black woman, but it just wouldn't be with the same level of outrage. I wouldn't respect that black dude either (a coward is a coward). Just seeing a black woman assaulted by a white man just has more cultural and historical baggage. Good point though Work |

Living in the South requires you to be pessimistic about situations breaking in your favor. I love living down here but that doesn't mean you're going to catch me in Forsyth County after dark. I'm not strapped but I'm also always conscious of where I am and who's around.

I couldn't even post yesterday. Especially after reading about Rush Limbaugh and his rant about how "in an Obama America, Black kids beat up White kids and the Black kids cheer it on"....
I wonder where his ass is now?! What burns me up is that these morons can fuel this racial fire, knowing that one day it will burn out of control and no one says a thing! Michael Steele is the worst person in the world right now. I can't stand to see his self hating face. He is the token face of the Republican party and they are using him as a shield to spew their race hating venom.
We have to be more careful in what we call out as racism because we run the risk of being "Chicken Littled"! There are increasingly more examples of TRUE venom out there to point out and to call out on its face.
On the other hand, we can not excuse ignorance and call it keeping it real! That shit with Kanye was more than just some dude going off the farm for a second. When we see stupidity...we should call it out and not laugh about it! Especially when it's not funny!
