All of these topics about love, relationships and dating are missing on thing
LOOKS....
Seriously, in our adult age, how important are looks to a relationship? Could you be in a relationship with someone you find unattractive?
Women: If a man could be all that you wanted emotionally and financially could you look past his looks?
Men: If a woman satisfied your needs and provided support for your shortcomings. Would you stay with her if you didn't find her all that attractive?

Looks are extremely important! Basically looks are all i have to go on when i first meet someone. I have no idea how he is intellectually, financially, etc, etc...and our society tells us that a more attractive person is more likely to be successful...so, due to natural deduction and evolutionary psych theories.... a person's attractiveness is extremely important!

It had nothing to do with financially - it was ALL about the personality. Humor/Wit/Intelligence/Confidence/Compassion/Principles/Morals/At least a Lil Hood Savvy = HOT Some people see a pretty package on the outside and hope to find substance on the inside. I find substance on the inside...and I'll find something on the outside. I mean, everyone has SOMETHING cute about the... even if it's just the ears or a elbow! LOL |

I get you on first impression Madea. But I have seen some FINE men, that don't hold my attention for very long. And if they are "ugly" on the inside, it's just a matter of time before I started finding all kinds of shid wrong with their exterior.
Whereas, I've met men who I thought were not attractive - spent more time with them and WOW...all of a sudden, its like, I see things that weren't there before...Hmm, he has a REALLY nice smile - he's walk is swagged out - his frame is regal, etc.
And 1 of the guys (that were perhaps REALLY unattractive) I mentioned above I met after talking to over the phone.
(So I KNOW - for me - it's possible)
He worked in payroll at one of my jobs. I would call and cuss his ass out about my check and he'd cuss my ass out right back!!! LOL. After about 8 months, he said,
"You been calling up here going off all this time - should we just meet up - fight and get this shid over with?!?"
That led to other convo - which lead to a date.
When I saw him - he was about 5'6, 240, BALDING...
But he had the most beautiful smile I had ever seen. He made me laugh hysterically!
We were such good friends that when we broke up, and I became bethrothed to my now husband...
He even called me and said "Yeah, I didn't beleive you so I drove by, I saw him - 6'4, muscles, HEAD FULL OF HAIR...you shooo know howta hurt a nigguh!!!
AND WE FELL OUT LAUGHING!

...I mean she wouldn't have to be <insert beautiful person's name here>.I've already said I'd go down as far as a B-cup (I've gone lower before actually but it didn't work out - I'm not sure it was because of the A-Cups though...
...though I suspect I might have hung in longer if they were B's... anyway) I mean if you have e'rthing I want and you at least take care of what you got, like if you big-bone-ded, but you dress it up nice, take care of your hair, and be the most fly you - you can be, I can probably work with you.

BUT...it does mean that I'm very very unlikely to approach or listen to a come-on from an unattractive male.... therefore, his existance is moot in my mind... I have this meter than weighs Face, Body and Personality. It has to balance out. I probably would date her if her personality was good and she wasn't that bad but in the back of my mind she would always be the "ugly exception". If we ever got into an argument I could see myself thinking " she isn't good looking enough for all this" and just ending it right there.

Anyway, people try to sugar coat this issue a lot, but as everyone has been saying, LOOKS MATTER. Personality and other intangibles only get you so far. it's one thing to catch someone, but it's something else entirely to keep them
