Eff you and your Fall '85. You are a stupid trick if you think I owe you some special treatment solely because of that. I just wanted to point out that I hadn't even started school yet.

I am sooo mad that I allowed my homegirl to talk me into suffering through another lame ass party. I think I should have told her that I changed my mind and planned to go to this other party with my homegirl from work.

I finally gave up all hope and stopped posting on SH. The GDI's on SH are out of control and the Greeks don't help. I abandoned ship (who knows about ships?) and now everyday, another SH GDI finds her way to OOA. I was made aware that OOA has more Greeks who aren't very nice and less willing to answer questions...mainly Damie LOL. I think someone over here is secretly inboxing these aspirants telling them how to skate and not get busted (for the record what you all are seeking is not in a book.) I don't see a change here on OOA everyone seems pretty much the same and that's neither good nor bad. I think the real issue is "all" of you GDI's (yes, you) are trying to skate your way into someones organization. You all have an inability to listen and make use of clues...this is very bad for a pledge. Random bits of information and lip service will not be your Golden Ticket into a fresh jacket. In all my years, I have never come across so many aspirants who have a much deeper understanding of BGLO's better than BG's...
Have a great day!
Sisterly,

So, out of curiosity, how would you(all) react if an aspirant came to you and said:
"I absolutely love your organization. I've been dedicated to becoming a member since I was a child. I cannot wait to work hard and be an asset to the org. Also, I definitely do NOT want to skate. I want to pledge and shed blood, sweat and tears so that I can feel I earned my membership unlike certain other members and aspirants. No matter what happens, I refuse to be a skater."
Is ^^ such a statement any better than what you (all) have been seeing around the web?

I've had individuals say to me that were interested and asked some basic questions...and that is not a problem. Now, when I direct them to the website for more details that is what I expect them to do.

I have a problem with anyone rolling up on me and spewing anything at me related to helping them become a member that I don't know. I could care less about you wanting to pledge or not, I just think you should have some access to some people who know you IRL and intimately that can help you if that's what they choose to do. The web intro is just a further irritant to the main issue. People figured out what was needed to gain entry into our orgs long before WWW came into play.

Exactly! My favorite is the RAB who loves the org more than me and has wanted to pledge since she was a toddler and yet she doesn't know "any" of my sorors or sisters. (Looking cross eyed) So, out of curiosity, how would you(all) react if an aspirant came to you and said: "I absolutely love your organization. If I new the person (as in my road dawg) a statement like this wouldn't bother me. If I can help, I would...if not I know who can. If it's a RAB, I would look at her like she's crazy and say "okay girl, good luck" and keep it pushing. I might be incline to ask her why she loves my org opposed to the others. If her answer isn't valid, I would recommend that she delay attending a rush. So, out of curiosity, how would you(all) react if an aspirant came to you and said: "I absolutely love your organization. L, my reaction would probably be something like: “Say word? Ok – Dope, Dope. Well um, a few of us Bros were going to get together anyway on Friday night for a little get up at this location. Um, Say Mr. Enthusiastic, why don’t you be at this certain spot at 7:06pm so we can have somebody swing through to pick you up? I just want you to share your enthusiasm with all of the Brothers at the same time so everybody knows how game you are. Cool? Oh Yeah, and just wear something comfortable too…Jeans, White Tee-Shirt, and a pair of boots should be fine…” LOL

I agree 100%. Anytime anyone joins an organization to either embrace or dispel the stereotype is all bad. A person should join a chapter based on three things: 1) How successful the chapter is at meeting National goals. 2) How well the aspirant vibes with current chapter members. 3) How successful chapter members are academically and on campus (socially). All other reason are inherently b.s. I could easily fit my self into every NPHC sorority, so that says all NPHC sororities seek the same types of members. Members who believe in faith, hope, charity, prudence, justice, fortitude and temperance. The only difference is our fine tuning and how we chose to implement our projects. Sometimes looking in the light of Greekdom, I confuse stereotypes with corporate branding or is it different? Almost every NPHC sorority has branded themselves in some way or another and for the record this is neither good nor bad. If I were a timid, pompous person who has nothing to say while alone, but everything to say when in large groups...I would be inclined to join a family that would embrace the part of me that has low self-esteem within chapter meeting instead of putting me on front street for spectators viewing pleasure. Lets face it the world has more average looking women than beauty queens, and if your brand is to beautiful great (I like it)...what woman doesn't want to believe she is beautiful (no one can tell me that I'm not as long as I am in my head) when in her soul she knows that she isn't (by pop-cultural standards of course? If I were unattractive, I believe that I would be incline to join a family that is known for having attractive people. If I was smart and a little rough around the edges, but my first best girl is conceited, the second best girl is timid, the third best girl needs confirmation, I would be inclined to join a family which is loving, providing, disasterous and unfair as Mother Earth. Sometimes being the one wayward wafe can either propel a person in life or bar them from membership in the good ole girls clubs later in life. If I was attractive, but not very intelligent, I would join a family which would embrace my average mental capacity and deem me reigning queen of the chapter because I look differently (more exotic...more like Comedy LOL ). Oh yes, you do have chapters who scout out pretty dumb women. This all goes back to levels of self-confidence. If I were unattractive, yet smart and conceited. I would be inclined to join an organization that embraces intellect. This always proves to be to a chapters detriment. This organization is not really a sisterhood, as they are more focused on the politics of business. For some organizations it's financially profitable and for others it's a bankruptcy waiting to be filed. People who join these organizations realize chapter members have tunnel vision, so why can't chapter members realize the aspirant is a fake and doesn't really believe in the basic tenets of their organization? Chapters get caught up in the one checked characteristic and end up missing all the negative unchecked ones. SMH So, with that being said "Happy Kwanzaa, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays." Joining a org just to despite the stereotype is just as bad as joining to fulfill it.
