I am going to be posting a lot tonight for 2 reasons:
To stay awake for this convention I am 15 posts away from having 1000 posts. I wonder if this will make me an old head.

That damned flag on the screen behind the speakers is getting on my nerves, and the stills of McCain while Thompson was talking was too much...

In all seriousness though, I wonder if those people are scared of McCain getting in office. He terrifies me. He is a petulant child. He loses his temper easily and makes snap decisions without giving it a lot of thought (Palin is only one example).
He got mad at CNN and cancelled Tucker Bounds' interview with Larry King because he didnt like the interview with Campbell Brown. Do we really need a president who throws temper tantrums?

Somebody had it as a profile pic on Facebook. ;D
Donna Brazile just said Lieberman was more fired up than he was eight years ago. WTF?
He needs to pick a party and stick with it.

Here is the link regarding him cancelling the Larry King interview... www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/9/2/163035/8405/137/583631McCain Throws Tantrum Over CNN Interview by gsadamb Tue Sep 02, 2008 at 01:42:19 PM PDT According to Wolf Blitzer, John McCain was supposed to give an interview to CNN today. Excerpts of this interview were to be shown throughout CNN's Tuesday coverage of the RNC. However, McCain has since withdrawn from this interview. I don't have a direct quote, but Blitzer tells us that the McCain camp claims that Campbell Brown's interview with Tucker Bounds last night went too far. What's "too far?" Simply insisting that he gives an example of Sarah Palin's foreign policy experience. Video, just in case you haven't seen it, after the jump. gsadamb's diary :: :: Blitzer rightly noted that CNN doesn't feel as if the conversation was out of bounds (no pun intended), and that it's America's right to know if the VP pick has any foreign policy experience whatsoever. What's been McCain's line in the past? "Hysterical" response? Yes, I think that's it. So, what do you think? Legitimate outrage, or is McCain just afraid to confront a national media that all of a sudden has developed the backbone to ask about his judgment? Update I: Wow, made it to the rec list; thanks guys! CanyonWren and mka193 have listed Campell Brown's email addresses so you can send her a note of support: campbell.brown@cnn.com campbell.brown@turner.com Let her know how much you appreciate doing her job. Also, here's a link to the CNN Feedback Page so you can make sure your support reaches the suits, who surely have been hearing a lot of negativity about daring to question McCain and his judgment. Update II: I think this is pretty important to get out. Please Digg This.

Honestly, I think Fred Thompson did well. BEtter than he ever did when speaking for his own campaign. Also, I always think Laura Bush does well. I always say SHE is the one who sold W to the country.

Also, that pissed me off when Lieberman said that Obama was good for the country and would make a good leader, but not now. Maybe later...then the crowd applauded. WTF? Seriously? Clinton said that same stuff, but at least I felt like she was saying, "after I get mine."
Nobody in that room wants Obama to get the office EVER, EVER! So why are they clapping? Acting like, "yeah he just needs more experience, then we're on board..." No you're not. Shut the hell up!

The GOP is in turmoil. It will take them approximately 3 presidential elections to get it back together.

<-o- isn't watching the GOP convention <-o- sincerely tried to <-o- was bored to death
This convention is a drag - Palin is their ONLY draw and that's just to see if something else in her life goes kabloom. If you bought advertising spots around this convention you got straight up jacked.

I really think putting Palin on the ballot sealed the deal for Obama. How could he not win with this crack pot ticket?
I think he was smart to want to pick a woman and think it would have been a great move had he picked someone with some decent experience. It could have been another governor, senator, higher up in the military, even a business woman would have been better. I don't think she would have done it but Condi would have been a shoe in to win. IMO.

Congrats you are now officially cool. You don't have to e-screw Damie lobby to be part of the cool kids club any more. Back to our regularly scheduled programming.
Palin is their only draw and if she screws up her address by - you know - saying nice things about Democrats - then the soda will lose it's last bit of fizzle.

I really hope she falls flat tomorrow. It is amazing how the Republicans want to cry sexism because people are saying that Palin is unqualified.

I really hope she falls flat tomorrow. It is amazing how the Republicans want to cry sexism because people are saying that Palin is unqualified. It speaks volumes on them and how they think. They believe that we as minorities and women can (and do) deflect all criticism with allegations of racism and sexism. Since most of them don't know what racism or sexism is - and have had the advantage of being cocooned in the majority, they don't know when someone's experiencing it or not. Unless it's blatant Jim Crow style bigotry they can't detect it. So they have built up this fallacious belief that we use racism and sexism as a "wild card" to get whatever we want.
If it seems like they're rebutting criticism of Palin with almost NO thought or analysis it's because they are. Their ham-fisted understanding of bigotry is that "other" people claim to have suffered from it, and when they do, they are protected. They are simply attempting to use their understanding of the dynamic. We don't understand sexism or racism we just know if we claim that's the reason someone's being criticized that the criticism will go away.
Consider:
Imagine a chimpanzee coming across an adjustable wrench. He doesn't understand it, doesn't know what it's for - but he has seen others take things apart with it. It must be some sort of weapon. He doesn't understand how or why it works - he just saw that things come apart when you use it. He places the wrench on doors, windows, side walks, walls and is confused when they are not destroyed.
That's what some white people are like with racism and sexism. They recognize the wrench - they just don't know what it really is and when and where it applies.

is it me or does anyone else notice the lack of diversity amongst the crowd? no it's not me......it's the GOP.... Spike Lee admonished Soledad and CNN to observe what they saw in Denver at the DNC, and then to contrast that with what they would see in Min/St. Paul this week. I'm waiting on CNN to respond to that, even though Jeffrey Toobin did comment about it last night, saying that the republicans didn't have anyone but old, white men to feature on stage. "The country is changing," he said. "Too bad the republican party isn't."

I am worried that their tactics will work. They have been masters at changing the subject and putting their critics on the defensive.

It won't work anymore Prissy.
That's kind of what this election year is about. Their standard playbook isn't working for 2 reasons
1. Obama has done and continues to do a good job of framing the attacks as a culture of destruction and the same old do nothing Washington 2. People are starting to be more concerened about what a politician can do for them more than they're worried about if they LIKE the politican.
