I know it was a rhetorical question, but I'll provide a FACTUAL answer: Undergraduate: $1650 Alumni: $2850 Neither includes transportation and/or lodging to Initiation-site; and DEFINITELY no meals. LOL. yea, F-that undergrad intake fees for us in 03 was only like $750... of course, if you take into account *cough* "extra curricular, mandatory, monetary donations towards the welfare of chapter brothers (specifically beer and chikin and other assorted items)" *cough* then, yea, we're well past 2 grand

There is no REAL reason for being inactive it's all just excuses and we should all know about those excuses....There are lots of reasons for being inactive...some are valid, and some are B.S. I was inactive for a while after became extremely ill and racked up THOUSANDS in medical bills. I reactivated last year, and now I'm determined to never become inactive again. My aunt--who is a Soror--says, "that was just something to do in college". What about you? If you were inactive for a while, why? And what are some B.S. excuses you've heard? When you lose your job and have to choose between frat or rent...guess who looses...

Reasons to be inactive:

@ Konfucious I think the "business suit package" is an excellent idea. Is that something a lot of chapter do or is it unique to your chapter? There's nothing worse than to see a young brother show up to a convention looking like this: lol. I agree. And "NO", the Business-Suit Package is pretty-much exclusive to my undergrad chapter. I [and two other charter members] insituted the idea because we were tired of COLLEGE MEN showing up at their INTERVIEWS wearing suit-separates from SEARS & ROEBUCK ... and let's face it: Every Black Man NEEDS to own both a Blue and a Black suit. We made a deal with K&G Men's Store to bring our "candidates/aspirants" in for a personal fitting for a solid black & a solid blue suit. The fee includes the price of both suits, 2 white shirts, 2 neckties, and a pair of dress shoes [all identical]. If you don't have K&G in your city, I suggest checking with MEN'S WEARHOUSE; but they will be MORE expensive.

You want to talk about a Pan Hell project....
It would be nice if the Pan could make a deal with someone like Mens Wearhouse and all orgs would buy their "official" black and/or blue suit from them. It would be beneficial to all parties involved. <<== doesn't want to see another brother in a size 17 1/2 neck shirt when he is actually a 15

Yeah. The real benefit has been that: When we attend Province Council and/or Grand Chapter Meetings, the chapter [at least] looks unified; even if we are not.
Similarly, when we attend functions - e.g. the Annual Black Tie Affair (where the Annual CHAPTER PICTURE is taken), the CRIMSON & CREME BALL [with the DELTAs], the Undergraduate Luncheon, the RITUAL, funerals/Memorial services, etc. - we don't have any major difiiculties about WHAT TO WEAR. Simply decide WHICH color suit; and wear any shirt & tie that fits YOU.
We also have chapter CARDIGAN SWEATERs for the Winter months; as well as, khaki pants [to be worn with the BLUE BLAZER] for inter*fraternal affairs/events (like, the IFC Mixer, Greek Week Brunch, etc).
