There are lots of reasons for being inactive...some are valid, and some are B.S. I was inactive for a while after became extremely ill and racked up THOUSANDS in medical bills. I reactivated last year, and now I'm determined to never become inactive again. My aunt--who is a Soror--says, "that was just something to do in college". What about you? If you were inactive for a while, why? And what are some B.S. excuses you've heard?

I have heard things like "Oh, I used to be an AKA in college. but I am grown now... why would I go back and do community service at my college, its in Florida, and I live in Maryland."
Who made you? like, really?
Other reasons: -too expensive -too much drama -no time -had a bad experience

I was inactive for a while after graduation because I needed to destress from all things GSS, lol. A little under a year later I became active again.
Other reasons I've heard were no money(sometimes BS), too many cliques (BS), and moved to a place where there were no chapters.

I was inactive for a long time. Very bad experiences. But I made a committment to Delta and am now choosing to honor it as I always should have.

<-------- was INACTIVE [w/ the Alumni Chapter] for two years; not because I couldn't afford it, but I absolutely refused too pay $500 per year to do little more than sit around with some near-geriatrics brothers who drank Metamucil shakes; and played BRIDGE with their wives (who served water-chestnut snadwich). Who the HELL [that's BLACK] plays BRIDGE. So, I just paid my NATIONAL & Provincial Dues; and gave the remainder to my undergrad chapter. By-the-way, WHAT THE HELL is a WATER*CHESTNUT sandwich any damn way Can a brotha get some Turkey-necks, some Red Beans & Rice, and some RED Kool*Aid

I know it was a rhetorical question, but I'll provide a FACTUAL answer: Undergraduate: $1650 Alumni: $2850 Neither includes transportation and/or lodging to Initiation-site; and DEFINITELY no meals.

But at work, you have to put up with it many times. But for a volunteer your time and money organization, you don't. Most inactive sisters that I know said it was because of BS and cliques.

There is no REAL reason for being inactive it's all just excuses and we should all know about those excuses....There are lots of reasons for being inactive...some are valid, and some are B.S. I wasn't inacrtive technically but I didn't really participate in the chapter for a min. I had been going through some depression issuses and I also messed up my knee and I was more concerned about getting my mind and body healed than discussing the chapter's new buisness. However after I got better I was able to get reinvolved with the chapter.
