Personally, I just really, really wish they wouldn't do this. But I can't say I've been personally offended, no.
Believe it or not, the bigger issue is that a rogue group is co-opting traditions and symbols from another organization while claiming imaginary ties to it. Sexual identity is secondary (but very important) to this discussion. There is also a double standard here, with rogue female sweethearts not receiving the same venom (due to their perceived heterosexuality).

To me, this doesn't even have anything to do with being gay. It has EVERYTHING to do with being dishonest, disrespectful, and deceptive. It's not much different than someone trying to perp an org. They know that Alpha Kappa Alpha wants nothing to do with them, so why continue to use their symbols, colors, etc.? If they had started their own organization with their own stuff, I wouldn't have a problem with it at all.

I disagree that they are GROWING and growing. The same old overweight purse carrying shim brought in 3 of the more raggedy guys that we have all seen on various pictures before. Hell the shim been around for at least 4 years! These so called lines are just the same group of booty thumpers pulling "the kids" from the club they frequent. I'm not impressed.
& next time I hear a Skee Wee that sounds more like a Squak Weh, cause some overweight baritone tried to pull a fallseto tenor, Imma call El Debarge to help them get it straight!

My statement(s) had/have NOTHING to do with the MiAKAs sexual-orientation. Be GAY. Be STRAIGHT. Be CONFUSED. Who cares ?? Honestly, that is irrelevant to my discussion. I'm pissed off by their blatant PUBLIC disrespect of the customs & well-established traditions of our organizations. I am well-aware that there are SOME features of PROBATE shows that are rather common to MOST NPHC organizations. I have very little problem with other GREEKS creating parodies on other's traditional chants/steps. But, to ( for example) perform the Alpha-Train, the Omega-hop, the Kappa-shimmee, the Delta's FOUNDERS' chant/step, the AKA Ivy-stance, and/or a bastardized version of the " Road to KappaLand" as an earnest feature of YOUR concoction of an organization is taking it TOO far. |
