Hi E-sorors! If possible, I would like to schedule a chapter meeting for this week to discuss chapter activities and e-sorority business. I would like to get as many e-sorors involved as possible so I wanted to check your schedules.
Sooo....
What does everyone's day look like on the afternoon to early evening Thursday, Sept. 30? If you have any conflicts or time restrictions that day, please let me know.

I. Changes to the Board/New Leadership Positions
As you know, we’ve had some changes to the e-Board as a result of BP stepping down from her e-positions. As a result, the new E-Executive Board is as follows:
e-President - Sapphire e-VP - Chal e-Treasurer - BeachBunny e-Secretary - Fatal* e-Dean - Juicy e-ADP - Chal e-Education Chair – Juicy e-Community Service Chair - Sapphire e-Community Service Co-Chair - Chal e-Sisterhood/Fellowship Chair – BeachBunny e-Parlimentarian - Juicy e-Historian – Sapphire e-NPHC/Anti-Hazing Chair - Southie e-NPHC/Anti-Hazing Co-Chair - Juicy Beta Chapter e-Liaison - Juicy
*After the initial voting and assignments it was clear that the board positions were filled by all the same people. With our large e-membership, this is not wise nor necessary. To ensure diversity and have active participation from all e-sorors on the e-board, Chalito gave up her position of Secretary to Fatal.
At our last meeting we discussed two new positions:
Education Chair: One of our principles is education and with a sisterhood and service locked down and chairs identified, we should address education as well. The education chair could work with the community service chairs to make sure we're providing enough programs with an education focus as well as do a few programs on their own. We would just collaborate to make sure that we're reaching all of our e-sorority's objectives. I am happy to report that AKA graciously agreed to take on this role.
Sisterhood/Fellowship Chair: It would be that person's responsibility to create activities and events specifically for e-sorors. Of course everyone can suggest ideas but it might be good to have someone coordinate the sisterhood events. This person could also focus on reclamation and collaboration with Beta Chapter e-Sorors. This new position would also give another person the chance for a leadership role.
I was thinking about appointing BB, but if any of you have any suggestions, please let me know.

I think e-soror BB would be great in the position of S/F Chair.
I would also like to see some of our "least active" sisters become more involved with the day to day comings and goings of the e-organization.

Great! Well I hearing no objections or new recommendations, I hereby appoint BeachBunny as the e-Sisterhood/Fellowship Chair. Congratulations e-sorors on the new e-positions! As you know BP created a theme for the new program year, “Embracing, Enlightening and Expanding: Taking OO to the Next Level.” I know that we will do our best to live up this goal and that this will be an exciting e-year!!!

II. OOA Contributions & Presence As you know the board has its ups and downs and lulls in activity. As members of Omega Omicron, OOA’s premier e-organization, we are part of this e-community and should do our best to ensure it flourishes. As such, I encourage all of you to start and participate in threads throughout the board (not just in games) as much as possible. Even though you’re representing yourself, you’re also representing our beautiful e-sisterhood and demonstrating that we care about the e-community and will do what we can help OOA. Especially when the thread is started by an e-soror, it would be nice to have active participation from OO. Tikal currently has several threads in the General Section about tolerance and values. Please take a moment to voice your opinion... active and frequent participation will make OOA even stronger.

I agree. Many times we read over and thread a keep moving because we aren't sure what, if anything we can contribute, especially if we are unfamiliar with the topic. Either that or we don't want to step on someone's toes. In doing this, we are placing the responsibility of the board's survival on the shoulders of a few. Help build the board by asking questions in threads to gain clarity. Voice your opinions on the things that matter to you. You never know. The opinions you provide could become a catalyst for the next train or thought. So many of our threads are inspired by someone else's posts. If we put in more, we can get a whole lot more out of the board.

III. Community Service Projects
For the community service report, we just want you to know that we're ready to take on the challenge of meeting the needs of our e-campus and our e-community. And as always we're open to ideas, so please feel free to make suggestions to us at any time.
We have several signature projects that we want to continue. And this year we want to expand our reach, take on new projects and causes and continue to be the top e-organization as it relates to bettering our e-community.
So what’s next? We currently have several ideas in the works. In light of recent changes to the e-Board, Chal and I will get together to work on our action plan. We will also connect with AKA to see what educational events should be planned. Stay tuned…
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so we will definitely have an event to support that cause. In addition, we are planning a masquerade party for the end of the month.
However, our first event is to finish up the OOA E-Awards. Nominations have been submitted and need to be tabulated. We’ll work on that this week and setting a date for the awards ceremony.
Again, we are always open to your ideas for new projects, programs and causes we should support.

Since education is a large focus, perhaps we could look into some Adopt-A-School programs or some type of after-school programming. I would also like to see us become more involved in mentoring.

IV. New Business
I just want to reiterate my concern for the lack of participation we've had as of late. We can get every e-soror from near and far to show up when we have an e-line, but only half that number when it's a business meeting. We used to be much better, and we should get back to our roots *plays Alex Haley music*
The ladies of Omega Omicron are women of action. Lately, however, recently we have not had full participation at our business meetings and e-events. There is a reason we chose OO. We are leaders. We are achievers. We chose and were selected for an e-organization like no other. I ask that you take a moment to support each of our events and ensure that you are making a contribution to our illustrious e-sisterhood.
Chal and I ask that BB start to work on an e-sisterhood event soon so that we can reclaim, re-connect and fellowship with our e-sorors.
Any other new business or items to discuss?

I would just like to inform e-soror BB that seeing how I seem to be here ALL THE TIME (dang, do I EVER log off? lol), I am here for whatever assistance is needed. If you need to get in touch with me off the board, i'm always connected to YIM. YIM ID: chaljo81

Also it might be fun to have a game night... I know that not everyone wants to be FB friends with OO folks IRL. But maybe we could create faux accounts under our screen names so that we can f-friend each other on FB and have like a game night (scrabble, uno, etc.) with the e-sorors. Just a thought...

*calling e-sorors on conference call*
Hey e-sorors Chal and Sapphy! Im watching my son do an in home audition for superman...not a pleasant sight!
Anyway, I do have an idea for the e-meetings...I think the meetings should not be held to strict time due to everyone's busy schedule. How about getting a meeting started, lets say in the AM...set out the agenda and throughout the day e-sorors can post their thoughts and suggestions. This can help with participation.
I also think that we should have a symposium on education. Has any of our e-sorors seen the movie? unfortunately I have not seen it in any nearby theatre. It would be great to e-host an event on this topic...
what ya think?
