That was going to be question number 1 but because people have so many definitions, I just left it open. Generally speaking (from what I've heard) it's someone who is so consumed with holiness he isn't "part" of the world. It's not something with a positive connation.

Hm, I've never heard the phrase before. Does it have anything to do with a person so looking forward to his heavenly reward that he doesn't put any effort into living a good life here on earth?

I haven't heard this phrase but I'd go with "no"

No moreso they don't relate to "earthly" things. I've typically heard it used to describe women who don't forcinate, curse, club, drink, etc. The thread popped in my head because I heard a single pastor say that he can't find a woman because of this.

I myself tend to avoid forcination where possible. i'm sorry. Couldn't resist

Seriously I'm confused That's just one example. I've heard it used before, in similar ways though. My guess (and that's all it is) is that a person fitting that criteria is usually seen as boring.

He might as well say he can't find a wife cause there's no strip club. That ninja's statement needs some clarification.

I'm not sure how I'm getting warmer... in fact I think dude (the pastor - if he really is one) used the quote signficantly out of context

He is equating finding a woman with finding a wife. Also if you're a pastor you can't be deal with just anyone. That can get messy.

The only way I can make sense of this is:
1. Pep is right - he can't just pick any ol' woman 2. The women who are viable candidates want to be brides of Christ... and only Christ 3. Thus so Heavenly Minded no Earthly Good to him (in terms of a husband seeking a wife)
Still if there's one thing that there is no shortage of in the black church it's black women (we discussed this on another topic). If he can't find a woman in a church 10-to-1 there's something wrong with him.

2. The women who are viable candidates want to be brides of Christ... and only Christ
^^ This is basically what he is saying... He has the preacher is still a MAN... and it seems like the "viable" candidates can't get pass the fact that he is a pastor. He is a man of God yes but still a man...
basically he telling the women to loosen up but I found it funny how everyone jump to the stripper conclusion..

He is a man of God yes but still a man... basically he telling the women to loosen up but I found it funny how everyone jump to the stripper conclusion.. But that's just it Reign... why do they need to loosen up? He is STILL a pastor. He wasn't going to be picking any woman that:
1. Fornicated (shout out to everyone else that forcinates) 2. Cursed 3. Clubbed
So why would they need to do that in order to become viable? His position only makes sense if they are living a sanctified life and don't want to be married at ALL... the attributes that should have attracted him as a man of God to these women, shouldn't be things that they should have to re-arrange after they got married... at least IMO
