So... I'm gonna jump my scary butt out of lurk status and actually post a new thread. I'm noticing that mostly everyone here are either already Greek or Masonic/OES. Once a newb discloses whether or not they are interested or GDI, it's pretty much end of discusssion about it.
Are there any other posters/lurkers here who still are interested in potentially joining a D9? I know I'm not the only one, or maybe I'm trippin? Just curious.

Awww....trust me darling...not everyone here is all the way were they want to be. There are some people who aren't affiliated with anything and thats where they'd like to keep it. There are some who aren't affiliated but still aspire to be greek or masonic, THEN you have those that are greek or masonic that aspire to be masonic or greek.
You entered this board in an extreme latent stage. We don't discuss things like we used to. But those of us that have been here long enough knows who everyone is. Like everyone, at least all the older posters know, I originally came to SH (then OO to OOA as everyone else did) as a greek aspirant. That aspiration has not died. YES, I am an member of the OES now...that was a journey I believe God wanted me to take...he led me to it and I followed suit...but OES has never and will never be a "replacement" for the love i have for this particular bglo and if God ever allows me to become greek that org will not ever come close to being a replacement for the love I have for my OES.
So don't feel left out or alone around here....I always said everyone has a twin on this board....you just haven't found yours yet.

What does God have to do with you being Greek? Just find a grad chapter who is doing intake and get in. After that, stop paying dues to the grad chapter and send the money directly to Nationals. You really need to stop praising these organizations.

DJ, there are still some people on here who are aspiring. I am one of the ones who are. People really don't talk about aspiring much around these parts. We do heavily on sh from time to time.

Sororities do intake whenever they feel like sometimes once every 5 years or something crazy.

Do you want to do intake or actually pledge? Did you try to join in college? Tell us your story!

The following post is 91's personal opinion and is not in any way intended to convey the feelings of any other OOA poster. You're not tripping DJ. I'm sure there are aspirants on OOA. I didn't come here from SH or any of the other MB's so I can't speak to that perspective, my feeling about OOA is that there are Greek and Masonic and aspiring posters who want to talk about other stuff versus this being a Greek oriented board. I don't get what there is to discuss on a MB related to aspirations. It's great to have them, but I don't think aspirants should seek information from strangers on line about something so personal. I don't wants to spoon feed you aspirant do's and don'ts, have discussed the problems of intake ad nauseum, don't care anymore whether you're pressed about paper or made, etc. I'll congratulate you when you cross but that's pretty much the extent of my interest in threads about aspirants. If someone's aspiration is all they're bringing to the board then I'm probably not going to engage them much. If they want to be a serious poster who happens to have aspirations, I'll engage them all day. Make sense?

Totally understandable, I just noticed that the flow on conversation on OOA varied greatly from SH, so I figured I'd just throw that question out there. But being an aspirant isn't all that I'm about, hell... I have a life outside of my personal pursuits. =)

Yeah, I haven't spent a lot of time over there lurking but it's amazing how with a lot of the same people, the environments are TOTALLY different. The old oldheads can give you more insight than I.

150th post! I'M A PLEDGE!!!! WHOO-HOOOOO!
Anywhooo, I admit to lurking over there if I have questions but this board is more interesting by far. After a while, the same information repeated gets redundant.

EXACTLY^^^^^
Yall have to remember, this board started on SH. The greek life sections became horribly disgustingly redundant so we started talking about other stuff...then we talked about other stuff in Off Topics SO much that Mr./Ms. SH made us move to a different site which he/she made just for us! It was awesome!!! That board grew and flourished soooo much that this hater punk from god knows were got jealous and bugged the site....we wandered around aimlessly...Starting OO Refugee threads on Yahoo/Facebook/airywhere....then this site was born. And so it was written....lol
So we've come a long way with our roots being in Greek Talk. I remember back when we would have count em down threads where we'd figure out who was represented more. At one point it was flooded with Alphas and Deltas, then there was a strong AKA wind that blew through then we had a nice number of Kappas...etc etc.....don't underestimate my OO....we used to be poppin.
I think the core crowd's mindset has just changed. I mean think about it: I remember back in the G when Lighthouse was like the resident Eastern Star..then she crossed Delta and nobody knew until some months later. I remember when, I believe, Brownie (BnSuga) was an aspirant and Crossed...back when Radiant Rose was an Aspirant and crossed...SuaveD crossed....Quiet....hell....errbody! Had some journey to the Light as well....But since then, most of us have grown in age and mentality so the things we like to talk about have changed. "Paper v. Pledge" just isn't that damn important anymore. When I came to this board I was 18...freshman yr and yearning to get back to my HBCU post katrina. Now I'm 23 and I could give 2 shyts about that damn school! lol
SO I don't think the environment has changed much, but the people have definitely grown.

Definitely more mature relevant topics here. Not knockin SH completely for anyone else who still loves it, but I cant get jiggy with half of the issues they argue over. Paper vs Pledge!? As Steve Harvey would say " Ninja for what!?" I'm 29... that being said, I aint got time for the little stuff! RIGHT ON, right on!

SH has it's moments. Sometimes it's good to have a good ol' fashioned Greek argument (happened not too long ago) but over here, you'll see that we get on a wide array of topics and we'll get deep, philosophical, analytical, spiritual and have alot of intelligent views from different perspectives.
You get some from young perspectives, old perspectives, northern perspectives, southern perspectives, male perspectives, female perspectives, Abrahamic and Non-Abrahamic perspectives, soft science perspectives, technical perspectives, legal perspectives, corpororate perspectives, labor perspectives, greek perspectives, masonic perspectives... we have a pretty good cross section of folks here.
