It is a work of art, in the artistic sense, but I don't know about it being a great "music video".

Yeah, I agree.. I don't think he cared too much about the music aspect since he cut the song down to 1:43.. Would have been cool if he expanded on this idea for the entire length of the actual song.

Rihanna- Rude Boy is all that came to mind when I watched it. Is the director the same for both videos?
The song is kinda hot though, the Alphas are strolling the heck out of it already.....

No, two different directors. I can't say I can think of any video like Power. Kanye considers it a painting and not a video. Dude always trying to be different..

What painting is that Huey? Sword of Damocles. It's based off a Greek/classical myth. It's the idea behind the Power video.

Sword of Damocles. It's based off a Greek/classical myth. It's the idea behind the Power video. Dionysius (II) was a fourth century B.C. tyrant of Syracuse, a city in Magna Graecia, the Greek area of southern Italy. To all appearances Dionysius was very rich and comfortable, with all the luxuries money could buy, tasteful clothing and jewelry, and delectable food. He even had court flatterers (adsentatores) to inflate his ego. One of these ingratiators was the court sycophant, Damocles. Damocles used to make comments to the king about his wealth and luxurious life. One day when Damocles complimented the tyrant on his abundance and power, Dionysius turned to Damocles and said, "If you think I'm so lucky, how would you like to try out my life?" Damocles readily agreed, and so Dionysius ordered everything to be prepared for Damocles to experience what life as Dionysius was like. Damocles was enjoying himself immensely... until he noticed a sharp sword hovering over his head, that was suspended from the ceiling by a horse hair. This, the tyrant explained to Damocles, was what life as ruler was really like. Damocles, alarmed, quickly revised his idea of what made up a good life, and asked to be excused. He then eagerly returned to his poorer, but safer life. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ hmm, so Kanye put some real thought behind this one, huh? I think I like it. as for the picture, some illustrations have the sword aiming for the heart, others have it aiming for the head, but it all means the same thing.

I liked the video. I can appreciate Kanye being expressive and "different". Someone said it looked like it was inspired by Xerces from 300 and Vigo the Carpathian from Ghostbusters 2 lol:

I'm so retarded, I initially pulled up some random parody video on youtube... This video is nothing like Rihanna's, lol!
The verdict is in- the video is absolutely DOPE! I think the shortness makes it more dramatic and he still gets the point across perfectly. My new favorite song :-)

^^^ Why is he so out of breath?!
The comments didn't really match what he was saying IMO. People are so... special.
So is it automatically demonic because it's based off Greek mythology?

I FREAKIN LOVE IT!
I'm super geeked up about this album and this song.
I missed THIS Kanye and I'm glad he's using his experiences and remaining brutally honest with his introspection.
