The Counselor Education Program is grounded in the core principles of the American Counseling Association and the American School Counselor Association, which defines the roles and responsibilities of professional counselors in its code of ethics," the statement read. "The code is included in the curriculum of the counseling education program, which states that counselors in training have the same responsibility as professional counselors to understand and follow the ACA Code of Ethics." The Code of Ethics prohibits counselors from discriminating based on a number of factors, including gender identity and sexual orientation. "Counselors do not discriminate against clients, students, employees, supervisees, or research participants in a manner that has a negative impact on these persons," the code says. If you openly say that you are going to discriminate against a group of people that have been declared a protected class by the professional organization (and therefore the university) then you have violated the code of ethics and they shouldn't have to keep her. If she was smart, she'd just shut up and complete her degree or transfer to some place like www.liberty.edu I'm sure they will let her hold those beleifs while completing their Masters in Professional Counseling program.

Basically. I mean you can say you don't agree with something but based on the faculty and school's reaction to her sentiments, I think what she has expressed is beyond not personally liking something to being discriminatory which you cannot do. Like Cam said, she should have just kept her mouth shut and kept it moving. Only person she is hurting here is herself. I believe she has also hurt her chances as far as employment because no school in their right mind can justify hiring someone who has publicly stated they are prejudiced against someone regardless if it is race, religion, creed, or sexuality. You can firmly expect that this person will not be able to be unbiased doing her work if she comes across a client who is part of the LBGT community.
