Yes.
Why?
Fraternities and Sororities should only exist at the college level. These organizations are an integral part of college life. Having chapters outside of the college campus does not really benefit Greek life. Greek-Lettered Organizations were really created to enhance the college experience. Adults shouldn't need to be active members of a Frat or Sorority outside of college for their lives to be enhanced. Life should be focused on establishing a career and a family after graduating.
Belonging to a graduate chapter takes away from giving back to the undergrad chapters. There is a great divide between undergraduate and graduate chapters. It has all to do with blacks wanting to "transcend" after college. But by joining and participating in grad chapters, the undergraduate chapters lose the guidance and help needed to stay strong.
Most WGLOs do not have graduate chapters. Graduates are not considered members once they earn degrees. So in order to maintain a bond with the organization, former members give back to their college chapters by donating money, housing, and other resources to current college members. The emphasis is on the chapter, even more than the emphasis on the organization.
Also, white Greeks get ahead academically because they have access to vital information. Alumni from WGLOs form databases of old tests, papers, and lecture notes and hand that information down to the current college members. Members do not have to study as hard. This is the secret as to how chapters of 30+ members are able to maintain chapter GPAs of 3.0 or higher.
Organizations that are divided amongst themselves do not function well. BGLOs are divided because of the differences in undergrad and graduate chapters. Eliminating grad chapters and focusing on college members will bring new strength and revitalization to BGLOs.
Alumni Greek groups would do well for former college Greeks to connect. But having graduate chapters with the ability to vote and in some cases hold power over undergraduate chapters is a poison to BGLOs. The concerns of college students and and adults who live and work in the real world are very different. This is why graduate chapters should be abolished.

Unfortunately Grad isn't a natural transition. As an AKA, I cannot help but to think of a certain "graduate member's" influence in our early years and what a difference her wisdom and foresight made. I have been on both sides and also know how dreams can be taken away by undue influence by grad members, but also have seen how they can be restored.
If our orgs depended on UG to solely support our orgs financially and in deed they would suffer. Without focusing on the "bad apples in grad" or using a broad stroke in painting opinions, I would like to point out the benefits:
You have various ages, backgrounds and talents More financial, social, political power Better ability to influence through media More access to resources Presents a stronger global presence Utilizes invite/ recommendation in many orgs verses the minimum qualifications Better ability to travel and function globally
Besides, I just think of the valueable contributions many in grad make with the expertise they have from their various skills and careers. For example, I provide professional level event planning stemming from years of experience in the professional workforce, while others may contribute website design, project management, pr, organizational ability, creating educational programs, implementing activities which produce beneficial networks, etc... Not to say UG's do not have that talent, but there are fewer with the time, professionalism, and ability. Let's not even speak on the selection in some cases...there are a lot of "anybodies" in there.
I feel we all are necessary and can benefit. I think the question is the amount of control and influence one should have on the other. Selection is one of the major issues. I also feel UG presence, positions and opinion on National levels should be increased. Oh, and that NPHC...nevamind.
My solution; transfer into grad after graduating and make a difference.

You totally missed the point. The purpose of Greek life is to enhance the college experience, not to make money. The corporate culture within graduate chapters stands in direct opposition to the traditions of fidelity, brotherhood, and friendship that undergraduate fraternities and sororities were founded upon. I myself did not join a fraternity to do community service or to have something to put on my resume. I could have joined a hundred other groups for those purposes. Joining a graduate chapter who is not intimately connected to assisting local undergraduate chapters is pointless. Grad chapters get caught up in glorifying themselves, with little regard to giving back to college members.

NO!
Why:
Graduate chapters are why the NPHC groups are the envy of NPC, IFC, and the other governing fraternal bodies. They want a more unified body of members instead of chapter base affiliations. In fact, more of the notable WGLOs are establishing alumni chapters for those members who want to be actively involved in their prospective org after graduation, Phi Mu to name one!
In my org, undergrad chapters can't exist without guidance/supervision of a Grad chapter. Also, the true work of the organizations is carried out by the Grad chapters.
Are some changes needed? Yes, but both fractions are needed and must continue to co-exist.

No, I don’t think Grad Chapters should be abolished. In Alpha (and I assume with all the D9), they play a significant & integral role in our national outreach programs and service initiatives. Outside of that, there are numerous other factors that benefit the Frat as a whole with the existence of grad chapters. However, there were a few interesting points in your commentary that I can agree with though.

AKAS.. thats another reason I love convention/conference time... the 2520's are always in awe.. esp if you find one who strikes a convo that startswith "I was in a fraternity/sorority back in college"....

At the end of the day, these are all voluntary associations. If the greek alumni of a certain org decided to formalize their association, then what would be the significant difference between that and a grad chapter?
What people do with their lives is their business. If you decide to start a parallel org based on alumni of a specific school, you have the right to do that. Other than maybe lack of intake, that sounds like a grad chapter to me.

Just playing devils advocate your response proves his point. If more money was delegated back to Undergrad chapters they wouldn't need to ask for money. Furthermore it's stupid to think college students will have the monetary power of working adults. Secondly all parties should take place on the yard. Atleast the youngins have the foresight to secure buses to their parties that maybe off campus for those who drink. Thirdly the undergrad chapters really don't need the help of graduate chapters if the older brothers of their chapter came around and gave back. This type of thinking is what causes the divide. If it wasn't for undergraduate chapter alot of graduate members wouldn't have the itch in the first place. When you diss undergraduates.... you're shitting on your founders.

You are shittin on your founders because they were undergrads and all fraternities were started in part by college students. Now lets cut that bullshit quick. When our orgs were the cream of the crop it was because the young men and women were coming through UNDERGRAD getting leadership skills, community service objectives done, running formal meetings properly, conducting fund raising initiatives, and the like. If you go back and look at the who's who of the civil rights movement 85% of those people pledged undergrad. Not even a comparison. This is the problem when folks who did pledge undergrad seeking to hold onto power sell the new graduate initiates you're better than the undergraduates while behind your back they see you as nothing but a check and a vote. Now look at the shape our organizations are in.... I think graduate chapters are needed but not to over see undergraduate chapters. That's what a Chapter adviser and older chapter brothers are for. Furthermore when it comes to money most times undergrad chapters can get more from their older chapter brothers than a grad chapter anyday. An example is Earl Graves gave his beloved chapter $30,000 to help facilitate its 85th anniversary. Again not even a comparison. If you shit on undergrads you're shitting on your founders period point blank.
