Wesleyan College’s first collegiate chapter of Delta Sigma Theta was officially chartered on April 12. Just as the sorority’s very first chapter was established on Jan. 13, 1913, by 22 collegiate women on the campus of Howard University, the following women are keeping the legacy alive as charter members of the newly established Upsilon Lambda Chapter of the Sorority: Fonda Monique Caudle, Melita Michelle Lewis, Chardae Charisse Smallwood, Meghan Lee Herd, Sacejewia Wyvonia Evans, Jamie Carol McClease, Vivian Jacinda Brown, Oprah Okema Evans, Jaleesa Ryan Murray, Cecilia Nicole Thorpe, and Camera Ane Thomas. They look forward to providing public service on campus and in the surrounding Rocky Mount community, officials said. The Upsilon Lambda chapter is the 1019th chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. |
