I was going to warn you but you got it covered.
When I go, I register. I try to go to everything but, alas, I cannot.
Contrary to what some believe on this board, the true benefit of conference is not history, rather it is discussing the future of the organization.

That's why you send delegate(s) to attend the business and plenary sessions.

I register and try to attend meetings although I am usually working with the March of Dimes. Last year, in New Orleans, I was on the National Awards Committee so I spent nearly the entire convention judging stuff....that pissed me off....

I don't go if I'm not going to be able to attend the business sessions. Boule is work, not vacation.

I don't go unless I'm registered and I do attend the plenaries.
Waymaker, will we see you in NO?
@ Rob and Kyng, so are you saying that non-voting delegates (that's what all registered attendees except the designated chapter representatives are called for us) don't need to attend the business sessions?

In Alpha, the DELEGATES are responsible for bringing the reports of the business and plenary sessions back to the chapters for report at the meetings immediately following the conferences. As such, they can divide the sessions which they will attend. Unless it's a session for voting delegates only, ALL those chappter members who are at the conferences need to attend.

In Alpha....I attend because of the extreme political drama. LOL @ Cam! I must admit, some of the drama in our meetings and sessions could rival "Dallas," "Dynasty," and "Falcon Crest" combined.

I only go when I can register. When I register, I attend plens, workshops, and committee meetings because I like to serve on a certain committee in which I plan on eventually becoming the regional committee chair of that committee.
Lay-Jay.....my conferences are 2-folds! I work hard and I party hard too. Yes it does become a vacay for me.

What does bother me is the fact that people come into the org and has YET to attend na'ah, cluster, regional conference, leadership, or a boule' but they wanna be on some super_________(insert the name of your org) stuff. And they're the ones that always have the answers to what's wrong with their org.

@ King I know the deal! i introduced myself first
@91 I'm a Neo and I plan to be there with bells on.
so me and my LS's have been told by some not to register and just go buy tickets for the shows and what not. my thinking is that i want to know how Delta works. I joined a grad chapter so they are about the business. I want to know what i need to know to be a productive member.
I also want to party in NO!!

Ya’ll nailed it. It is work, and unless you register, you can’t really help implement change through your, voice, opinion, participation, etc. These days, as in recent years, I’ll only go if I can register (dependent on location).
That said, I still won’t front. I’ve been to conventions before that I didn’t register for. The last two off the top of my head that I went to but didn’t register for was 99 in Dallas and 2000 in Atlanta. Around those years, my money was tied up in life changing events that were occurring. My Bros and I only had enough to split travel costs. Still went anyway, still flowed hard, and still enjoyed much fellowship with my Brothers.
I would never tell a Brother not to go to the hosting city during convention time just because they couldn’t register for it. Shoot, it’s still a blast. You may not get to participate or experience the “Inc.” of the Frat sessions at that time. But you will still get a healthy dose of the “Brotherhood”.
