<--- never been to Chicago
I do think this is a potentially dangerous situation. It's sad when a city feels this is the only option. This is one of those things, IMO that you only oppose if you have a better solution.

I just heard Common on the Radio this morning and he said they do have the Guard on the streets right now.
I'm concerned now because not a lot of people are not hearing about this. And this has the potential to become very hostile. But I can't help but to wonder is the "immigration" situation over shadowing this.

The immigration issues are definitely overshadowing this.

I don't know if the National Guard is the answer, but I do know that something has to be done. Quick and in a hurry.
So I am NOT knocking this attempt at regaining order, and I am willing to see how it plays out.

It's getting to the point where even the surrounding suburbs are scared to let their children play in their own front yards. Priorities are definitely misplaced. The money spent on bidding for the Olympics should have been reallocated to protecting the youth, especially after Derion Alberts very public death. Really, what other options exist to regain order?

Give them time Oksana. Surely they've exhausted other options. This is tragic

Tragic indeed, but something MUST be done!! Black children are killing black children like swatting flies in the streets of Chicago. I'm like Diva...let's see how it plays out. Obviously city police have failed. Sometimes it takes striking a blow with a bigger hammer to make a point.

Remember Huey P Newton and Bobby Seale? This group started out trying to protect the kids in Oakland trying to cross a dangerous street. They also spoke out against police brutality against African Americans. Long story short, their good intentions were overshadowed by their militant confrontations with the police....often provoked. If the city comes up with a plan to save the community by the community, somehow, someway the actions will be misconstrued as power seeking and ultimately, confrontations will not be avoided. Besides, the police doesn't want us to save our neighborhoods, more n****** die, the better. *sighs*
