They might as well....they ain't talkin' bout ish anyway! ;D
J/K
It would set a precedent within the Greek World but I would imagine that it is waaaay too late in the game to cancel at this point, a great deal of money would be lost.

Alpha Phi Alpha should cancel its existence. 104 years is enough monkey business.
No disrespect to the Alphas or anything.

Only if they have some Alphas have lines names (on their pari) with anything with the word "escAPE"... in it...

I don't think Alpha should financially disadvantage itself. If their conventions are like ours, they require significant advance payments and cannot easily be moved at the last minute. I say go ahead and have it but then don't go back.

Exactly. Black people will not be profiled anymore or least because of this. Besides the reality is this law was put in place to prevent AZ from looking like CA with it's illegal population of Mexicans. In the event you all didn't know on the West Coast Mexicans don't roll or support anything that Black people are doing, but they do stick around to reap benefits. This time they need to fight this battle alone. Arizona has been a "hot mess" for awhle. Apil - Are you a NEW jackass, or an OLD jackass with a NEW name? DST - That's one of the major issues being addressed. If it were only as easy as just saying "to hell with Arizona," which we would indeed like to do, but like you said, there are alot of logistics that go into a national convention, and cancelling 3 months out is easier said than done. Southie - I love Chicago! That's the former home of our national HQs (4432 MLK Drive.) I can't wait to go back to the Windy City for a national. LOL @ Julie! - You're right...that's reason enough!

Here is the FB question that goes along with it... MATT AND PERRI (SHOW) What about this black/brown coalition? Is it realistic to think that Latinos would not sell out the black community to empower themselves economically and politically?. I've heard some West Coasters say they are offended by other's involvement in this issue. In some ways I agree that it is very easy for those who aren't on a coast or border state to holler "that's so wrong." Personally, it's unfair to pass a law that essentially requires racial profiling then say to law enforcement "don't profile."

Yeah it is but I think the major problem is being able to hassle people to figure out whether or not they are. It seems like a gateway law and next anyone with an accent will be getting jammed up.

I think it is a bit too late for us to just cancel the convention. There would be financial repercussions to the National organization, as well as to individual brothers who may have already bought plane tickets, etc.

We have been asking white people since the 17th century to not profile us here in the United States. If they haven't started to listen by now they won't ever start. It's not fair to profile, but the world isn't fair and neither is God! Exactly. Black people will not be profiled anymore or least because of this. 1. Cancelling the convention will be bad for business. Probably not an option.
2. Julie has a point...you can't make being an illegal alien any more illega. WTF?
3. "...stand up for justice, stand up for righteousness, stand up for truth and 'lo I will be with you, even until the end of the world'" -Dr. King It doesn't matter whether or not the Latinos like us or not. If we claim to be for civil rights of each citizen then we must stand against an unjust law. The law isn't unjust because it puts illegals on the run. It's unjust because in the process of prosecuting this law, many legal citizens will be harrassed.
4. We should go to Phoenix, AZ have a rally at the capitol and express our concern about the slippery slope this law creates....then go drink some Makers Mark. ;D

I will be in DC at my family reunion during that same time, so I wasn't going to AZ anyway.
