Black people do that too. I have a friend who has a friend who has a Zeta portrait in her home, and she's not a Zeta. She said she saw it and liked it so she bought it. I was speaking to some members of Zeta Phi Beta that I knew from my Sigma Dove days. Why did this woman (who was speaking to one of the Zetas that she had met once before) come up and say, "I'm interested in becoming a Sistergirl. I even have a picture of ya'll in my house ;D...it's really pretty ...she's got that pretty RED[/b] dress on." (this was NOT a BGLO event by the way) The Zetas that were standing there were like . No anger or rolling of the eyes. The Zetahe was addressing said slowly, "That's NOT us..that would be a Delta if she's wearing red." The woman didn't let that statement register in her mind. She gave the Zeta her phone number and said, "Call me" and kept it moving. Like ya'll said, not all Black people have a clue about BGLO orgs.[/quote] Ha. she said Gurl whatever. I'm going to be DAt zeta wearing red through up dat dynasty sign. LOL bless her little heart.

*Waves @ Significant SA* Hey Sis! Here, here to your comment! Why is Hulk Hogan wearing Juicy's T-Shirt? Everyone wants to be an AKA, but everyone just can't go that way! ;D But seriously -- as previously stated, please properly dispose of all old nalia as well as chapter/org documents and literature! I just attended a workshop at our regional, and this very topic/situation was discussed!

Yall do know that often times it's not the organization member that's disposing of their stuff right? When someone is 65, hasn't been active for years and ill they really aren't thinking "let me make sure I dispose of my pari properly before/just in case I die" or "let me make sure I tell my family what to do with my pari when/just in case I die." Every time I read "people please dispose of your pari properly" I roll my eyes, LOL.
The only people that know and care about protocol are greeks and people who know a lot about greeks. If something happened to me right now I wouldn't expect my Mom to know what to do with my stuff. Maybe someone will ask for it or maybe not but I could care less...if stuff is going to a thrift store or shelter there is something far more serious and important that has happened or is going on.

That's why you as the member need to designate what you want done with your stuff. It should be treated as any othher will disposition.

I don't understand why this is so hard for people to conceive. But I must admit when I saw BKUP's comment about Hulk I died laughing, because that's the exact thing I said when I saw it. Also, I lauged extremely hard at Chal's story, because I can just see it in my mind. This reminds me of the time I went to my friend's graduation party. She's in a BGLO. At her party her line sisters did their call before leaving. Some family members heard it and repeated it agreement. BWAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH I-in the corner-laughed my arse off. It's like being the big fish in a small pond. When you go to a even bigger pond your customs become minute compared to the larger surrounding. Not everyone is familiar with our organizations...not even all Black people. They simply see an item that they like so they buy it. My parents, for example, don't have an understanding of fraternity and sorority protocol. They know that I'm in a fraternity and they know the name of it. I can definitely imagine them seeing some Alpha artwork, deciding "Hey my son is a member and I like that painting so I'll buy it" and then hanging it on a wall or something.
