Hi all,
I've been on OO forever but I lurk these days more than anything. I have a question for you knowledgeable folk of OOA.
So one of my fb friends puts up a status saying she is a new member of XYZ sorority and isn't sure she made the right choice. she is going thru some other personal issues in her life and we talk via chat from time to time. so she hits me up on fb chat tonight and she starts telling me how ppl are telling her to leave the org bcuz its bad. i ask her if these ppl are members of XYZ or have ever been. she says no. im like flag # 1. cuz nobody that doesnt understand ur org should be able to convince u to leave it. also she doesnt have any indicators in her page that she is a member of this org. in all our convos she has never even mentioned it. so then i asked her what chapter she joined cuz i know the school she goes to has no chapter. she said a chapter at her old school, which happens to be in another country. flag # 2. then she gives me some convoluted explanation about how she really joined at a school down south that was partners with this overseas school. flag # 3. i asked did she go through a membership process she said no. so i said how u a member and never went through no process? then she says of i joined in fall of 07.I said ok cool are u active? she says yeah. im like with who? an UG chapter? or a grad chapter? she then say she doesnt understand what i mean by UG or grad chapter. flag # 4. who the hell doesnt know that? esp if they are essentially almost 3 years in their org? i dont care if u fell off completely after u were initiated u at least know the diff btwn UG and Grad. I didnt know what to say to her. i just was like ok alright great. I'm not greek but this story sounds crazy to me. What yall think?

perp. After she said she didn't go through a membership process to be a member of said org, she a perp. I don't care if it was 2007 or 1957, all BGLOs have an official initation process and if she didn't go through one, she a perp. And she can't even get her story straight on where she supposedly crossed. Tell your friend a perping lifestyle is not a healthy lifestyle, ESPECIALLY if she gets caught by the members of that org.

Then again, HTH is she "new" when she SAYS she crossed in Fall '07? That means my azz is still "new"? Nothing is new after 3 years!
And who the hell refers to themselves as a "new" XYZ? Don't most folks say "I just crossed"? Maybe that's only where I'm from...

I'm saying yall! the whole thing is iffy as hell and im praying that she doesnt get wrapped by the folks in my area cuz they dont eeeeeeeeeven play that!
@ Damie: even a renegade wouldn't do no dummy stuff and put it on facebook. and the way she referred to the org not as XYZ Sorority Inc but as the XYZ, ive never seen that b4.
@ Muse: Also she kept saying my XYZ sisters as opposed to "sorors", which also made me go hmmmm, esp round these parts. if someone calls another member of their org "sister" they are implying something about that person's initiation circumstances. The fact that she said joined and not crossed also made me go hmm.
