(Yay! but the King family should've had more offspring to carry on the legacy...)
ATLANTA -- The Salute to Greatness dinner Saturday night will have a special glow.
Martin Luther King III, the eldest son of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., will announce that he has married longtime girlfriend Arndrea Waters and that the couple are expecting a baby daughter.
# LIST: King Day Events
The Salute to Greatness dinner is a big fundraiser for the Martin Luther King Jr. Center.
“This is great news that a grandchild of Martin Luther King is coming into the world,” said Isaac Farris Jr., president and CEO of the King Center and a first cousin of the King children. “Our legacy continues.”
King III married Waters shortly after his mother's passing, but the couple decided to keep the marriage private until now.
King III is the first of Martin Luther King Jr.'s four children to get married, and he will be the first sibling to have a child.

Yay! I am surprised that none of the King children hadn't had any kids before this . . .

I'm not surprised that they were "hesitant" to get married/ have kids. They grew up with a tremendous burden and had a hell of a legacy to live up to. Could you imagine having a father who was gone 80% of the time because he was helping others and then was murdered for that? The King family went through lawd knows what (extramarital affairs, living in poverty by choice- King did not accept money and or large gifts for his services like some of these new preachers, celebrity, threats, etc.) What was homelife like? I dunno, tough gig.
