In a strange way, i'm actually OK with the Republicans having broken the supermajority. We were not intended to be a one party system where one group can muscle through changes they want without compromise or a balance of ideas. In our zeal to correct the neglect of the last decade, the Dems have put on blinders to the pulse of the country and hopefully will make some changes before midterm elections.

Ummm I definitely feel a whole lot of ways that it was Ted Kennedy's seat of all people. Over the past year I have seen very lackluster leadership from the Dems. Now they have no choice but to step up to the plate.

I feel you Reign. For the seat of the biggest proponent of Health Care to be the one that may kill the initiative is ironic and sad in many ways. We've just got to get a better strategy together or mid term elections are going to be a slaughter.

Ted Kennedy held that seat for 46 years. I feel like this new guy is sitting on Ted's lap.

Excuses are tools incompetence, they build....................... I tried to tell people what was going to happen. A political shift like this in ONE year.
Where's Dolly when you need a real horse?
Obama rode in the white house on a stallion, but travels around on a mule, but which is more stubborn.
I had an interesting dream about Obama. It was rather sobering of the reality he is faced with now. It was a cool conversation set back in my hometown of NYC in Washington Square Park.
I don't have to listen to any news station or political spin to understand what the MA senate seat going to a Republican means. November 2010 will be a democrat defeat of epic proportions. There are a lot of seats up for re-election. 36 senate seats and ALL 435 house seats are up for re-election.

I feel that the health care issue was made the main issue for a while and now other issues will get attention too, including the health care reform, not JUST the health care reform. Mike Huckabee made a great point, this re-assessment that will be done will make President Obama more likely for re-election.

The Dems will definately lose seats. They always do. One reason Dems do so poorly in their first year is because they govern idologically. Education reform, healthcare reform, new taxes, etc... these things are not popular because they all cost money.
Republicans come into power and immediately start giving tax cuts and making policy that doesn't directly affect the average citizen or policy that addresses an emotional issue which masks the their true intent.
Example: End money to orgnaizations that discuss abortion as an option to family planning. While doing this, pass massive tax cuts, give a bs rebate and then pass the Patriot Act. One is a strictly emotional issue, the other two are give aways to the wealthy and defense contractors.
Dems must learn to message. They must also learn that the average American has no interest in intellectual arguments. They want emotional frenzy. If they can't get excited about it, it shoudln't be policy. Republicans have this down to a science.
Ex: When Repubs want something passed they label it in an emotional way. Tax cuts: Give the American people back their money. You know how to manage your money better than big government.
When they are against something: Healthcare reform...DEATH PANELS, cost too much, will destroy medicare, etc....

Obama, while you lifted up racists and segregationists as your personal heroes. You made NO great prognostication. You (like the other wingnuts) are simply giddy over winning a senate seat. Trust that the republi-nuts will have to do a hell of alot more than win ONE seat and continue to vote NO against everything this administration puts forth. Lest you forget, you STILL have NO leader to emerge from among your ashes, and if you and any of the others really think that Sarah "I ain't smart, you betcha" Palin is anything other than the clown princess of American politics, you're more desperate than any of us imagined! The administration has some work to do indeed, but you wingfreaks have MIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEES to go before you can even think about sleeping!

If you haven't noticed Robe, this is a government with balanced powers, so it is not necessary to have a President in office to produce favorable changes and prevent unfavorable ones. One Check for Denny.
Hate is putting words in your mouth, not mine.
The Admin is going nowhere without compromise period. ALL 435 SEATS ARE UP, AND 30 SENATE SEATS, SO LET'S SEE IF THE DEMS HAVE A 60-40 MAJORITY IN NOVEMBER. The dems have no choice but to eat political cheese and hope the people don't smell the aroma of flatulants that come out before mid-terms.
I love you man, you are a true liberal indeed. You were pledged, initiated, and got sucked right into the light of liberalism.

denny,
No one hates you....you're not worth hating! Secondly, just what is that you've typed up there? Another instance of reaching up in your arse and pulling something out. Typical. I don't need a civics lesson from you of ALL people! I learned all about how the government works back in middle school. I stand by what I posted earlier.
If I've been sucked into the light of liberalism, what light have YOU been sucked into, or rather should I ask, what "light" are you sucking?
