Heather Ellis apparently signed on to a plea bargain so she avoids felony charges. I still think this is some foolywang B.S. that it even got this far. It is difficult for me to believe that THIS is justice served (particularly when I speculate had other factors been different not only would it not have been an issue, not only would it not escalate, but if it did, cooler heads would prevail and keep all of this from becoming the national spectacle it has become)www.semissourian.com/story/1588987.html

Ok...I laughed at this part
"As for Kennett, Swingle believes the town's reputation took an unfair hit. "This is not a racist environment," he told reporters, drawing loud boos from several black residents standing nearby"
And what is "shock jail treatment?" Are they going to stick her in there and beat her up or something? Is this Scared Straight for adults?

Honestly I don't know - but jail time of ANY sort is ridiculous for having a confrontation about cutting in line, and I maintain, if Heather Ellis was a lighter hue, we would not be having this conversation.

I agree, since when did cutting in line in Walmart become illegal? Get the heck outta here.

while i disagree with the punishment, i think we are missing the point here. She was not arrested for cutting in line. Cutting in line is what got the ball rolling. No one told her to try and fight the police.

No one told her to try and fight the police. Speaking only for myself here, I think the whole thing is bogus, including that a ball GOT rolling at all. People do all sorts of crazy things (too many items, leave their cart and come back with more stuff, go to no check lines with checks) aside from cutting and few, if any of them require security intervention or management - let alone law enforcement.
