Ok Question:
Would you marry someone of another religion? If not, why wouldn't that relationship work? Some people say they are Christian and go to church once a year and think Genesis is the book before Revelations or some people say they are Muslim and eat ham sandwiches every day..I am NOT referring to these people. I am talking about both persons are active and practicing in their perspective religion?

Christians are instructed not to marry anyone other than a Christian. IF they do, they are stuck with that sinner for life, UNLESS the sinner asks for a divorce. So, if you have a sinner who knows this, they could make your life a living hell. I would rather have that knowing I did the right thing than disobeying God.
For Christians, there is only one God, Jesus Christ. All others are satanic in origin...

What about polygamy (love the show "Big Love")? Why was it made illegal? Why does the church look down on it?

I don't think that polygamy was God's design at all. God created woman for a man and stated that the two of them would become one flesh. I believe polygamy began when Israel (God's chosen people for that time) allowed the customs of pagan nations to influence their relationships.
I will have to do some more research on that, but these are my initial thoughts.

Back to the original question, no, I would not marry a man who was not a Christian. Two can't walk together if they don't agree.

what about two active Christians who adhere to two different denominations of the faith (and therefore doctrines which a divergent enough to prevent a completely even yoking)?

Was Paul discussing that scenario when he said "you must marry only in the Lord"? Or was he only talking about followers of Christ uniting with non-Christians?

Was Paul discussing that scenario when he said "you must marry only in the Lord"? Or was he only talking about followers of Christ uniting with non-Christians? Yes it means a Christian only. Look at what it follows.... Once death occurs, you are free to marry again, but in light of all he said, marry a born again Christian. When a sinner releases you from the bond of marriage, don't be stupid and marry another one.

As far as the different denominations, I would say no based on the wording of your question. Marriage is a spiritual bond instituted by God. Try and get the other party straight prior to even asking them to marry.

Interesting, because even though Church of Christ people are technically Chrisitans also, they won't marry anyone else who is not Church of Christ. Not baptisit, not presbyterain, etc. (used to date a Church of Christ and we would go back and forth about this all the time cause we are all Chrisitans).
