Wow @ California accounting for 10% of the children sentenced to life in the county.
Wower @ the united states have a rate more than 100x the rest of the world combined!
So she gets this incredibly harsh sentence because her crime was "well planned." This pisses me off! What about the amount of planning that went into two years of grooming a kid for prostitution?

I would like more information on her case, specifically the murder, like if she was defending herself, etc...Of course I feel that she should be let go. After all, she has been locked up for 13 years already. And as a minor she was in an illegal predicament and in a terrible situation that no young girl should ever have to be in.
However, (unpopular opinion to come) barring self-defense I DO understand why she was locked up in the 1st place. Life in jail - can't process that one. But I do get why she was punished.
There is a much larger issue at hand here of the law not sufficiently (if at all) protecting minors who are caught up as child prostitutes. From jump, they should be viewed as victims, NOT criminals, which in turn would have caused her case to be viewed through an entirely different set of lenses, one would hope.

1. Mandatory Sentencing- dumb people voting against their own best interests
2. Trying minors as adults- This is on the judge who obviously is punishing her for "choosing" this lifestyle and then not being able to handle it. She should have known better.
