At what point do you typically know it's time to let go of a person, place on thing? Do you normally have special /personal indicators or is it just when you've marked a certain level of progress or decline. Please speak on it.  |

I so don't know how to answer this because it's so dependent. Sometimes it's objective, like when I moved from Houston, a city I loved, back to Atlanta. I needed to be near older family members and had better long term career opportunities in Atlanta.
Relationships are different. When I'm giving more than I'm getting or even get to the point of indifference, I tend to release. I don't deal with trust breaches well so NOTHING will make me release quicker than that. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.

I let go of a relationship when I see that it is dead. By that I mean there is no longer any growth. I have just recently decided to allow a friendship to dissolve. I am moving toward what was once a shared goal and she is still only talking about it. She has been making poor choices since day one but I believed in her. She said she wanted to do better and sporadically made good choices. However, she is still in the same situation. In fact it is worse. I began to be uncomfortable sharing my joy with her. There seemed to be a little jealousy developing. In this case, I think things will just fizzle out. Our relationship will make a gradual decline that ends in us saying hi in passing and that is more than fine with me.
