news.aol.com/article/kill-obama-facebook-poll-case-closed/517074#WASHINGTON (Oct. 2) — The Secret Service has determined that a juvenile was behind the online survey that asked whether people thought President Barack Obama should be assassinated, an agency spokesman said Thursday. No criminal charges will be filed against the juvenile or the juvenile’s parents, spokesman Edwin Donovan said. Donovan would not reveal the names of the child or parents or say where they are from. The poll, posted Saturday on Facebook, was taken off the popular social networking site quickly after company officials were alerted to its existence. But, like any threat against the president, Secret Service agents took no chances. The poll asked respondents “Should Obama be killed?” The choices: No, Maybe, Yes, and Yes if he cuts my health care. After Secret Service agents met with the child and the child’s parents, they determined there was no intent to harm the president. “Case closed,” Donovan said. “I guess you could characterize it as a mistake.” The poll was not created by Facebook, but by an independent person using an add-on application that had been suspended from the site, Facebook spokesman Barry Schnitt said earlier this week. ___________________________________ Something seems not right about there being no consequences

Well, it's a juvenile. I'm just glad the poll was shut-down.

I hope having the Secret Service show up on your doorstep is enough to scare him away from this type of entertainment in the future

It should 91 it really should. But these are serious time. They've proven that by the weapons at town meetings and preachers PRAYING for Pres. Obama's death.

I think secret service took this too lightly. Its not just about pulling a polling application off of FB its about the INTENT behind creating such a poll AND what or WHO influenced a "juvenille" to create such a poll.

Exactly What if the kid would of gotten some serious takers....and actually wanted to "follow through" on his poll?

SMH. Juvenille should get some type of punishment, even if it's just community service.

Sooooooo because this was a kid they are letting this go....stupid. All this child has learned is you can come up with a poll, or whatever that talks about harming the president as long as you don't really mean to hurt him.....

I guess I am stuck on the fact that it was a poll. Inappropriate, YES. Dumb as hell, SURE. But has he REALLY broken a law? Is a poll truly a serious threat against the POTUS? What about freedom of speech? Plus it's Facebook, and plenty of dumb inappropriate shyt seems to be happening there.
I trust that if the Secret Service saw an honest, credible threat, they would have responded appropriately. And who is to say that they are not? WE don't know that. Furthermore, I am pleased with the fact that they monitor Facebook enough to know that this poll even existed. Again, glad they shut it down.
<-----devil's advocate and clearly the minority on this one
I realize that there are people who truly do want our President dead, and might even try with the proper resources. I'm just not convinced that this boy is one of them. Now, some of the people who voted? Perhaps...

Did he break the law? Yes he did. He named POTUS. But since he was a juvenile then they saw him as non threatening and probably not resourceful.
But what seems really bizarre is when people can carry weapons in the midst and/or at Klan Rallies Town Hall meetings of the POTUS and that's legal.

But I pose a greater question: Do yall think the Secrete Service is doing a good job for Pres. Obama?
Can you recall any situations that happened that left you saying to yourself....."Where was the Secrete Service"? Or How come the SS didn't do anything?

The last time I said something along these lines is when the Iraqi reporter threw his shoes at Bush. I couldn't believe that he was actually able to throw 2 shoes at Bush before being restrained. What if they had been Ninja Throwing Stars?

@damie LOL
Yea, I remember that. Two shoes. I can't believe he was able to get off two shoes..lol
Seems like the SS was taken of guard with the first one. Then they realized it's just a shoe and chuckled after the second one was thrown.

I'm still amazed at GWB's reflexes... he looked like a dodgeball champ up there...
I dont know if its the Secret Service but something is def lax... I remember if a person publicly spoke out about Bush they were labeled a terriorist and put on a list... now you can pretty much say whatever you want and its ok... I cant help but to think its because he is black..

I'm remembering a video game where the goal was to kill President Bush. I don't recall an arrest over that. It's not much different to me than this situation. Created for "entertainment", right? I dunno.
I am notdisappointed with the work that the Secret Service is doing. I believe that we as a people are very protective of our President and his family, myself included, and that's okay. We're human. And yes, clearly his being Black changes the game.

Investigate. Look into it or something. I can't help but to think that some of these groups or people who may try something are very savvy these days. FB/Twitter/MS are all VERY poplar and could possibly be used as vehicles to some craziness. I know this sounds far fetched....but I would of never thought I would see people carrying weapons at town hall meeting either. I know they say they'll take a bullet for the POTUS. But do you think they'll take one for Pres. Obama?

But do you think they'll take one for Pres. Obama? I'll put it like this. They BETTA take a bullet for President Obama. After all, that is what they are PAID to do. Washington, DC and various other cities around the country will burn down if a hair on the head of this POTUS is harmed. I believe that right there with ALL of my heart. Remember, Secret Service is not just YT. There are Black folks as well. Similarly, Obama's supporters don't just look like us. They (YT) may very well be lighting those torches as well in the event of such an awful ocurrence. It's not that I have soooo much faith in humankind or that I am naive about the reality of this situation. But we should not forget that our country has never before seen the likes of President Obama in office before.

We have to remember that not everything that goes on is publicized. So even if we aren't hearing about the outcomes of some situations or that some things are happening you best believe they are being checked out. The MSM gives us what they want us to know....anything else is up to you to find out.
In the case of this kid and his poll, for me the bigger issue is that kids grow up and carry a lot of stuff into adulthood...now they do more with access to more resources.

You Right Bun I remember hearing that phone threats or what have you to President Obama, are up 400%!!!!!! Now yall know that's ridiculous and very scary at the same time. And I to believe that if ANYTHING happens to the President there will be a Civil War. Now this kid IMO is being spoon fed his info. And that's How "some" grow up, being spoon feed hatred and misinformation. Their generations that came before them didn't wait for there children to grow up. That's because the want to secure that deep hatred bloodline of hate. They are starting early. I'm not saying this is the case of this kid, but these are the type of situations WE need to be aware of.
