the mind games witihin the game excite me.
bluffin' someone for a big pot excite me.
puttin' someone on a hand and being right excites me.
stackin' chips excite me.
Making the right decision at the right time excites me.
seeing the look on someone's face after I beat em when they just knew they had the best hand excites me.
basically, all of the nuances of the game, the interaction with the people and the emotional rollercoaster that you ride when playing gets me geeked.

but it looks so boring!! lol it really isn't. I'm guessing you have a limited knowledge of the game and watching it and playing it are two different things. Check it out and if you get the chance, play in a game you can afford. It is fun, despite what you may have seen.....poker is one of the very few games where you don't have to have "the best" hand/score/point total/etc to win....

What is the biggest bluff that you successfully pulled off? yesterday at the final table, I went all in for about 20-25K on the flop with 7-2 off suit against three players. There was about 35K-40K in the pot. I had no pair, no draw and nothin' but my balls. Everyone folded and I showed em what I had. I don't do it often, but bluffin' when I have ABSOLUTELY nothing are the biggest bluffs I pull off....

what was the biggest pot you won and what did you do with the money? in a tourney, $300-$400 for first place. in a cash game at my local casino, I took down about a $300 pot. after which I immediately got up and left, lol...I had more than doulbed up and hadn't been there an hour....

seven stud - three hole cards, four up cards, no community cards, best five card hand wins...
Omaha - four hole cards, you can only use any two, five comunity cards (flop, turn, river) like Texas hold em, best five card hand wins.

Stud Hi/lo - a split pot game, meaning the "high" and "low" hands split the pot. it's played just like seven stud but a "low" hand can be a winner. now follow me: a qualifing low hand is any hand that consists of any combination 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, ace. meaning, any hand made with this combination of cards that IS NOT A PAIR, TWO PAIR OR SET is a qualifying low hand. whoever has the high and low hands, split the pot. If there is no low hand, the high hand gets everything. so for example, a player could have a full house and another player have 7, 3, 2, 5, ace and they both would split the pot.
Omaha hi/low - another split pot game. played just like omaha, and like stud hi/lo, a "low" hand is incorporated. the same rules for a qualifying low hand apply in Omaha hi/lo
Pineapple - three hole cards are dealt and it's played just like texas hold em. The difference - you have to discard one card after the flop I believe.
Raz - played like seven stud but players are trying to make the best low hand, like stud hi/lo or omaha hi/lo. high hands don't count.
HORSE - stand for Hold em, Omaha, Raz, Seven Stud, and Eights or Stud hi/lo - this is a game in which, for a specified period of time, you play each game I mentioned all within the same poker "session." HORSE test your all around poker skills because the games constantly change.

start with the hand rankings. learn those first and you can move on to finding the game that best suits you. I would suggest seven stud. it's the easiest of the poker variations to pick up.... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hand_(poker)

no, I consider it game of skill..... Is that a fact?? Well how does a game of skill differ from a sport, in your opinion? I guess I consider a sport to be any game where one is physically exerting themselves beyond normal, everyday excersion in the efforts to obtain victory in whatever activity they're engaged in. whereas a game of skill doesn't require any physical exercsion beyond everyday circumstances.

With that said, you believe golf is a sport too?? The IOC considers ball room dancing a sport....what say you? yeah, I consider golf a sport. far from strenuous, but a sport nonetheless. ballroom dancing? wow....I dunno....I guess....put it like this, I've danced a dance or two in my day (not ballroom but at random parties n'shit) and I've gotten a work out from it so I can see the argument for ball room dancing being a sport....however, like golf, it ain't one the most strenuous "sports" around....*shrugs*
