Last night I heard that support for the Public Option was in question. Now today I read this guy saying, "if" there is a public option. Without real competition, without insurance companies being forced to actually compete and drive down costs - none of this will matter. I hope the Public Option is still on the table. The Blue Dog did say that he was against a mandate. I'd personally be willing to jettison a mandate for public or private insurance, for the option to have public, private, or none at all. But I think the none at all would be a problem, because if insurers can't refuse people, then people can basically game the system by not getting insurance until they DO get sick.
