...and why?
I was raised on the KJV however I now go to a church that uses NIV. I do bible study out of NLT.
I remember my mom told me only follow KJV.
I noticed there are some slightly different accounts between translations especially in the Genesis story. One change of a word can make a significant difference.
So do you stick to one translation or it doesn't matter to you?

It's pretty much all good to me. The KJV is notoriously "edited," so I try to stick to versions that are not based off it (such as NIV), but rather are translated directly from the hebrew, aramaic, greek texts (such as NWT). I also only fool with 66 books...your Macabe, Apocryphon and such I can't really get with. I bangs with the dead sea scrolls, the Greek Septuagint, etc. But honestly, at the end of the day, all Scripture is inspired and beneficial, and the word WILL get through regardless of the translation.

I mostly stick to the King James version, because it is what I am accustomed to. I sometimes look at other translations, though.
I am considering purchasing a Bible that has three of four different translations, including the KJV.

I like the KJV because of how its sounds. I usually use other types of bibles for study vs. reading.

Primarily the KJV because that's what I was raised with and I've noticed, if I happen to visit another church, this is the most common version. I do however, use the NIV, AMP, Comptemporary English and NLT for studying or if I'm working on a project

King James version. My mom used to get mad when I used anything else. I guess it rubbed off.
I can also get down with New King James, and New International Version.

I absolutely agree. Is NWT New Watch Tower? If so it's a direct translation? Didnt know that. It's pretty much all good to me. I so want one of those!!!! Do they exist? I 've never seen it, but that's because I go to a tiny independent christian book store or mostly my church's bookstore. However I keep scheduling to go to a large one like CLC ( I should check online). I've heard they have all type of bibles. I mostly stick to the King James version, because it is what I am accustomed to. I sometimes look at other translations, though. The NASB, solely because it has the closest translation from the original text. I personally have studied in-depth the particular type of greek that the NT was written in for two years and have noticed that the NASB is 95% correct on the intention of the passage...

I have a Bible with NIV and KJV running parallel. When something is unclear in the King James Version, NIV will clear it up.

When I was in high school, somebody gave me a copy of the Bible in "Today's English Version". A lot of times, I'll read KJV, but refer to TEV if there is something unclear. I don't ever hear anybody mention TEV, but it's pretty easy to read and understand. |

I had a old old Vulgate translated into English once but my mom through it out. I got it from my Uncle. Its what the Pope uses and it is in Latin.

the bible in my night stand is a King James Version but whenever I am looking up something or reading about something i go straight to biblegateway.com and look at in a at least 10 random versions to see what the average meaning is.

I grew up with KJV. As I got older NIV. Now I read my parallel bible...it has NCV, NKJV & Message with commentary. I achieve a greater understand of the word when I compare different translations. I like the NCV translation right now. Message is interesting the way it simplifies every little thing. However, I would not recommend anyone having the Message bible as their only source. Its good, but one should have NKJV or NIV to read along with it.

I believe most scripture is inspired by God..........
.....that includes scripture from non-Christian Holy Books like:
Bhagavad Gita
Qur'an
Veda
etc...
