I'm not digging this at all! High school is a hard enough time without this extra monkey wrench!

Indeed. I have heard that some of these high school groups actually have sponsors who are members of D-9 orgs...which is where they learn this. Dah well. SMH.

ok... so college kids can barely handle being greek . I've never been a fan of freshman members anyway....
So we going to allow TEENAGERS to join a Greek-like org and think it going to have a positive outcome.
Please

We had one of these in my highschool. I wasn't a member. The advisors were both AKAs. As far as I recall, they didn't do any service or anything, they just kinda...dressed alike and excluded people. They even had a brother org, which operated more like a mentorship program with male teachers and students.

When I was in highschool, this wasn't a thing in my city. I just think this gives the students a false sense of thinking that they are going to become automatic members.
I remember my ls who was an orientaion leader telling me about this girls that were throwing up mirrors at an event they had during the summer for incoming freshman.
It's sad, really. And these sponsers are not making it any better cause they don't correct them on this nonesense, as far as I can see.

I know a girl who did a high school sorority. Something went down, she packed up all her kiddie nalia, and "renounced". She didn't even bother to pledge anything when she went to college, because she was burnt out with "Greek Life".

the mutated strand of BGLO has spread to minors. Soon enough, we will find ourselves living such stereotypes as this: BLAC: Hello son! BABY BOY BLUE: Greetings Almighty Father BLAC! It is with honor and gratitude that "we" find ourselves in the presence of such strength, knowledge and wisdom. Is there anything that "we" can do for you today sir! BLAC: Wash the dishes and take out the trash!

I know, right???
I heard the "Junior Greeks", as they call themselves, were really big in Tennessee.
We never really had them, but they are starting to creep out here. Most of the ones I am aware of are not "Junior" versions of the D9 orgs, mentored by members, as some I've seen in other areas. These are ones that are created from scratch by people in high schools, and are advised by teachers, sometimes Greeks, sometimes not.

I dont mind to some extent.. its pretty prevelant here ...i actually started out in one myself , called The Mademoiselles.. my advisor was a Delta... we actually have an alumnae group, founded by a Delta who was a Mlle in high school. (http://www.themllesalumnae.com/) It helps because its teaches stuff like public service early.. also, the importance of maintaining grades and healthy relationships

It helps because its teaches stuff like public service early.. also, the importance of maintaining grades and healthy relationships If they focused more on this, and less on stepping and strolling and line jackets, I think that would be better. We invited a high school "fraternity" to step at our annual "Hallelujah" carnival at church. We were surprised and disappointed that some of their chants and moves were highly suggestive and inappropriate for church.
