I've heard about it, but haven't personally read it. <== [BLAC is a huge Eastern philosophy nut] Sun Tzu's The Art of War had me hooked. The Hagakure blew me away!

I gotta read the art of war. However, reading the TTC opens one up to the way/philosophy and helps to otherstand other works from that school of thought better. Exalt for Blacamus I remember you recommended t his book to me Damie. Many people have recommended it. It better be good! LOL *shakes fist* Hyp, it's about the path or the way... It's the core text of taoism. It's very interesting. I want to talk about it more, but I stumble, because I am but a baby in trying to understand it all. Some principles are things that I've already learned. Actually the guy that recommended it to me kinda walks me through it from time to time, because it's really deep and I get frustrated trying to understand it lol. I try to read one page before I start my work day. Maybe I'll post a verse here from time to time. It was recommended to me by a friend because I said I wanted to learn humility. Here is a the wiki link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tao_Te_ChingThat may help more than I have. LOL

Okay I will start with the 8th chapter of my translation, because I already have it saved. It's my favorite thus far. I dunno it just speaks to me, because I agree with it totally.
The supreme good is like water which nourishes all things without trying to It is content with the low places that people disdain. This it is like the Tao.
In dwelling, live-close to the ground In thinking, keep to the simple. In conflict, be fair and generous. In governing, don’t try to control In work, do what you enjoy In family life, be completely present
When you are content to be simply yourself And don’t compare or complete, everybody will respect you.
What chall think about that...?

Wait what is the Hagakure? Hmmn.............. The Hagakure talks about the way of the Samurai. It speaks about undying loyalty and honor. It is not as deep as the TTC, but the lowly soldier in all of us, it speaks wonders.

Chapter 9
Fill your bowl to the brim and it will spill. Keep sharpening your knife and it will blunt. Chase after money and security and your heart will never unclench. Care about people’s approval and your will be their prisoner.
Do your work, and then step back. The only path to serenity.
Chapter 10
Can you coax your mind from its wandering And keep to the original oneness? Can you let your body become supple as a newborn child’s? Can you cleanse your inner vision until you see nothing but light? Can you love people and lead them without imposing your will? Can you deal with the most vital matters by letting events take their course? Can you step back from your own mind and thus understand all things? Give birth and nourishing, having without possessing, acting with no expectations, leading and not trying to control: This is the supreme virtue.

Chapter 9 is so real to me. It's so simply put but so difficult to accomplish. I have been saying on here for months now that I have been thinking about how the quality of life is degrading. The things that keep us spiritually, mentally, physicaly and socially connected are being thrown out the window and being replaced by greed and technology.
The things that we think bring true security are the things that actually sap us of it.
Chapter 10 is difficult to me. I've answered no to all the questions. LOL I know about the loving and not possessing stuff from Star wars/jedi path (which is based off of easter philoshopy). It just seems like those things are not human.
I don't understand the newborn child part...lol
