As some of you are aware, my husband is pastor of a new, very small church (considered a mission in our organization), so we haven't organized a choir yet. However, in the church we left, our choirs marched in for special occasions only. For regular services, choir members were expected to have had united prayer, be in uniform, and in position when the church services began.
Everybody wasn't always there when they should have been but our devotional services were so "lively", their tipping in wasn't all that obvious to anyone but other choir members. I do think that is inappropriate, though. It's one thing if you have a last minute disruption to your schedule, but another when you are habitually late.

The ushers do their bop - I don't see why the choir can't march in...
...unless that's considered hazing too
