i could understand this a little more when he was ACTUALLY playing, because most of the time, kids wanted the shoes because you would see him playing in them (everybody wanted to be like Mike). I wouldn't think that they would be as relevant now, but maybe I'm wrong *shrugs*

I would have the newest Jordans a week or two before the came out (they are usually shipped two weeks in advance) It was such a big deal.. LOL |

I never understood the reason for paying $100+ for a pair of Jordans, and yet you can not pay rent, kids still getting "F"s in school, it makes no sense.

The same reason why you'd get spinners on your Escalade and live in Section 8 housing. The same reason why people spend thousands on a wedding and end up divorced in less than a year. People put style over substance all the time.

True story: We were doing a food distribution at Christmas for under privileged families once and one of the houses we delivered to didn't have any furniture that wasn't supported by milk crates, $h!t all over the floor, 4 able bodied people in the house apparently not working (or cleaning up around the house) and what did they have in the family room?
A 50 inch t.v.
...let it sink in...

Hell I don't even have a big screened t.v. Why are we delivering food to these fools if they can afford a playstation and 50 inch screen t.v.? I wanted to just walk out and take my box with me.
The absolute pinnacle of this story is that as we were leaving one of the women who was in the house smoking on the make shift furniture asked if she could get a box too, because she didn't live there but she wanted free food too.

LOL.. yeah that story is all too common is low income areas... folks will sell drugs all week and put all this "rich people stuff" in their two bedroom apt. and drive a brand new lexus....
WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but back to the jordans... I was 17 or 18 and the only bill I had was a pager bill... so my priorities where in order..
