I got this from the thread about "What is Love" and then a PM I received about my thoughts on Christianity. Also, a conversation I had with another OO'er about the spirit-body connection.
Let's discuss the difference between the Spirit and the Soul.
Run it.

Okay I will bite... To me the Soul is the true self. Your Ori as stated in African Spiritual systems most notably IFA but also in Vudu sits in the middle of the cross roads of your Akashic Records which holds every thought, every action every second of our existence in the false reality we call life. (and Jesus is a symbolic gesture nailed to this "cross" blocking your connection with the True Self) The spirit is but a Etherical foot print of our journey's in these false realities. This is why when you hear about spirits they are also stuck in a specific time period when there existence in the false world ended. Example if a child dies while still a child the the imprint left would be that of a child . If an imprint is seen "Ghost" then it would be of a child and always a child. The Spirit is basically a hologram on a different plane as we are also too Holograms as well on this plane as it pertains to our Ori. It is plausible that the true self is in one place and all of this that we think is real is nothing but information force fed to our Ori's who are in bondage. "How do we know that life itself is but merely a dream that is delaying us from the real world?" Morpheus -Matrix 1

So could the Soul (connection to the greater consciousness or God) and it's attempt to interact with the world, actually burn or imprint and therefore create the spirit?
The spirit being simply a byproduct of the Soul/Mind/World interaction?

The spirit being simply a byproduct of the Soul/Mind/World interaction? Exactly. What's even crazier is and this is what I think. Your Ori/Akasha and the records they keep they leave imprints everywhere. Yes you have a spiritual imprint of the roads you have taken but I also think you have spiritual imprints on roads you have not taken as well. For every decision you make there is a imprint left for you making that decision but it is also an imprint left over for you NOT making that decision as well. It is stated that in Vudu, IFA, Makeya, and Bewiti when large doses of Iboga is taken that you become one with your Ori and see EVERYTHING you ever did and didn't do in all of your existences. This is reserved for the selected. Your Ori tells you when you are ready. Like in Vudu and IFA NOTHING can happen until a Mambo/Hougan or Babalawo/Iyanifa consults with your Ori first. You have to be ready but thats an different story all together Crazy

LOL...but in all seriousness, the soul and the spirit are somewhat interchangeable in their usage...but if you want to be pedantic, the soul is your awareness...your mind, thoughts, desires, emotions.
Your spirit is eternal. As God told Jeremiah that before he was formed in his mother's womb, God knew him. We are made in God's image, hence we are spiritual beings, wrapped in flesh and controlled by our consciousness....
man I'm deep...

ROFL! If Blockbuster was open, I SWEAR I'd go rent that movie. ;D
And this is interesting--I was just wondering what the difference is between soul & spirit the other day.

Don't forget Jay, them thoughts, emotions and feelings don't die either. They are eternal as well, regardless of which side you're on. Luke 16:19-31 19There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
26And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
27Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
28For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
29Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
30And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
31And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Of course Priss......The obvious behind that is all the warning to believers about falling into past sins. That is why there is advice on how to avoid committing sin. But there is a huge difference between repenting (confessing and forsaking), as opposed to just recognition or holding on to our sins. Holding onto our ungodly lives makes us no different than the sinners we claim to be different from, and believe me the sinner knows this.
What I meant by my quote is that we will be conscious, whether here or in eternity.
