This is kind of in the "ask an expert" vein....so, OOA entrepreneurs or entrepreneurs-to-be, come here to vent, get advice, share experiences, etc.

OKAY, I'll say it... Some non-entrepreneurs get on my dayum nerves! I know there's someone out there other than me that feels this way. You know the ones... When you tell them you're "building a business" or "starting a company," they look at you in disbelief, as though you're attempting something that's never been done before. HELLO! If it weren't for independent, free thinking people like us, then you'd be out of a job. A company that was developed by some entrepreneur(s) employs YOU! Sadly enough, this sense of impossiblity seems to be even more prevalent in the Black community. It always disturbs me that it's that way, b/c back before we were "accepted" into business by our White counterparts (and yes, that's intended to be a loaded statement), the overwhelming majority of our people sustained themselves through entrepreneurial efforts. Just one of the fallout issues caused by integration IMO...but I think that belongs in the "Serious Talk" category. The whole issue reminds me of the poem...It couldn't be done. Remember, the guy heard everyone saying "It Couldn't be Done" while he did it. [glow=limegreen,2,300]DON'T GET DISCOURAGED[/glow], my independent cohorts! Keep going; you can fail countless times, but you only need to "succeed" once...and you (and your heirs) can be set for life! To Success! ~TPK

The company I'm developing right now is in the motivational field: consulting & coaching for entrepreneurs, actually. There are a few other side projects I'm working on which I'm quite excited about.
I also have a plan to launch a business that offers services to the general consumer in the healthcare arena within the next 2 years as well.

Tourm, good dstuff. What type of coaching/consulting are you interested in? I am working on a PhD in Organization Management right now...I want to use it to help my company improve upon the project management competencies.

I own a creative & marketing consulting company. We work with clients to develop & execute marketing strategies, offer "problem solving" for their existing strategies, and liaison between clients and creative vendors (ie. graphic designers, web designers, etc). I've been working for myself for several years independently, but I only setup the company relatively recently. I need to know what yawl do first? Wkat kinda bidness you entreprenegros got?

I actually want to reinvent the term "performance consulting" & take it from being organization/project based to individually based. Back in the 70-80s it was all the rage for increasing productivity & efficiency at a team/org. level. I'm working to bring some 21st century innovation to those same operating philosophies & make them relevant in the lives of the ind. client. I know the closest thing to what my startup is doing is commonly called exec/mgmt. consulting or coaching. I'm actually expanding it beyond the workplace to encompass every area of life. Entres & executives need to see the value of a strong work-life balance; that's what my company will help them do. Can you tell how excited I am about this? I mean, seriously. I'm about to jump out of my seat! *I'm such a nerd* Tourm, good dstuff. What type of coaching/consulting are you interested in? I am working on a PhD in Organization Management right now...I want to use it to help my company improve upon the project management competencies.
