I watched over the last 2 weeks as the various media arms in are country have reported on and even sensationalized a pitched battle for the Presidency of the United States. It has almost become reality television without the shallow meaningless subtext. It seems we've all been along for the tumultuous ups and downs with this journey; many times causing us to doubt or to wonder. I say no more.
Enough with the hand wringing, fretting, and nervous nail biting that never amounted to anything. I don't know that Barack will prevail or not - I can't guarantee that to any of you to give you peace of mind. All I can tell you is that I consider myself part of his campaign, and even if I knew that campaign would falter in the end, I would STILL choose to fight NOW. If we have learned anything from History - we should have learned that HOW we get to our destination is as important as the destination itself.
And if this is true - then I say let's not have history record that, whatever the end was - victory or defeat - we journeyed towards it timidly. That is not our legacy and NOT our pedigree. It was NOT cautious concern that Harriet Tubman embraced when she led slaves to freedom - it was NOT fearfulness or fretting that gripped Dorie Miller when he manned the guns at Pearl Harbor, and it was NOT trepidation or wavering uncertainty by which Dr. King and others marched into the TEETH of institutionalized racism for the cause of justice and equality. It was boldness and resolve. They were no more assured of victory than we are now. We should be no less bold and resolved than they were then. That is how challenges are met.
People - I ask all of you, all of you who are invested in some way in seeing Barack become President - join the campaign, find a way to help out, educate those around you, but above all else - MEET THIS CHALLENGE not with fear, not with uncertainty, but with BOLDNESS and RESOLVE. THAT is the obligation given to us by those who came before us, and we are entrusted with it's preservation until it is time to hand off to those who come after us. Nothing of significance of this magnitude ever came without struggle - it just so happens that this particular struggle belongs to our generation. Let us embrace it, and let us resolve to see it through to the end without fear.
Thank you for your indulgence on this post
Sincerely yours,
Damie

Also
When Obama said these words:WE are the ones we've been waiting for. I got chills - not because it's great prose - but because of the nature of truth containied within it. It is not rhetoric - it is a call to arms. To my friend Z specifically, I read you comments in the other thread.
www.onolympus.proboards67.com/index.cgi?board=seritalk&action=display&thread=3777&page=1#119469
To you I offer this: it's not up to Obama to convince your friends and neighbors to vote for him. It's up to YOU. You said it best when you pointed out - We are smart, educated, well-read and we do our homework and think for ourselves. We read newspapers and magazines. We check out independent websites and we watch C-SPAN. If WE are educated - then it's up to US to at least disseminate the information to those who don't have it. You mentioned a friend of yours has a child, and needs healthcare for that child.

Does he know about Obama's universal health care plan cuts costs more than any other plan in this race and that it will save the typical family up to $2500 on their premiums? If he doesn't YOU tell him. Does he know Obama is proposing a tax cut that will benefit 90% of the population? If he doesn't YOU tell him.

Biggups for this post Damie. Not on some ol' OOA jock riding ish but on some IRL preach brotha Damie stuff. No truer words have been spoken. I don't think people understand the magnitude of this election. The wrong person in office could set us back some years or put this country on a course we can never fully recover from. The past 8 years have had a bad effect and I really believe Obama and the people he puts in place and mobilizes can bring about change to reverse it. Sadly you have a bigger portion of the population that is set in their ways and will vote for McCain not because he will bring about change but because of their own biases and prejudices. You are right its up to us to get this info out and let people know that they will be shooting themselves and this country in the foot by not giving Obama a chance. He cannot...I repeat cannot do any worse than the clown in office now.

ROCK OUT WITH YOUR...
BARACK OUT!!! WOO HOO!
What did y'all think I was gonna say?
No seriously, this is a crucial time. Media has changed and so has this generation. This is an opportunity. An opportunity for us to either be a part of history, or sit back and watch it unfold. The danger with that is we have to trust our fellow man/woman to do what we all want. Guess what...it won't happen.
As Damie said Barack said, "WE are the ones we've been waiting for." If you want a sandwich, you git yo ass up and go to the kitchen and fix it. (I added that last part), byt we have to beat the streets, tell our neighbors, become our OWN media.
This is the FIRST presidential election where people from Lansing, Michigan could easily connect and talk to someone from Jasper, Texas. through the internet, message boards, YouTube and other outlets, WE can be the voice of this country. CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN they can tell the stories they CHOOSE to tell. WE can tell the stories they'll NEVER tell. WE can shine a light they never will.
YOU have an influence, they'll never obtain... None of us share the same skill set, but we share the same PASSION! Use not only your dollars, but your skills to join the fight. If we band together to fight, not just for Barack, but for us, and imagine if he WINS!
THEN...what can we do? Barack and the rest of the politicians talk about changing Washington. That's needed, but WE can change PA, VA, MD, GA, TX, MI, CA, et al.
WE can bring change to better our future, and we can start by speaking truth.
Here's what I'm going to do...I'm going to find some community organizers and record them with a message to McCain and the GOP.
I need some beats. Who can help me? PM me...
I'm also going to develop some other media, and post it to YouTube. when I do, will you help spread the word? Will you get people to watch?
What can you do?

LOL - Ghost this is weird... I am actually an amateur music producer - and I just finished putting together my website. If you need something custom made - just let me know - you probably won't be able to use the stuff I have right now (too many uncleared samples) but just know if you need beats... I got you.
Also if anyone is part of any community organizations or grass roots communities I would LOVE to collect quotes from them and their thoughts on how the GOP derided their contributions. We have the internet at our disposal - there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to get contributions from across the nation.

a call to arms is strong language over an election for the Commander in Chief who will change the scope of America with the ability to place hundreds of federal judges including possibly two Supreme court justices. But i guess this is where we are at in America ..a nation divided by silly politics . Well i will say this nothing will separate me from my brothers and sisters regardless of who you think you are because of the change that took place in my life i know that Change is real. And my prayer is that a wonderful change happens to us all before we die. For only what we do for Yahshua will last.
Only What We Do For Christ Will Last Delight thyself also in the Lord. Work for him while it is day. Only a life dedicated to Christ Jesus will last. Only a life dedicated to Him is one filled with confidence and meaning. "Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done." When we surrender our will to do His will, then and only then, will we have arrived. We must be doers of the Word, not hearers, only deceiving ourselves. Here we really must exercise our faith and patience. We do know Jesus came to this earth so that we could have abundant life. How can anyone even have a "life" without the Anointed One. You know one of the slangs of today if "Get a Life." No way do you, or can you, or anyone else get a life without Jesus. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Only What We Do For Christ Will Last.
Winifred Sutton Mayo
In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world.
There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love's complete perfection].
We love Him, because He first loved us.
If anyone says, I love God, and hates (detests, abominates) his brother in Christ], he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, Whom he has not seen.
And this command (charge, order, injunction) we have from Him: that he who loves God shall love his brother believer] also.

@ Water,
I have largely withheld fire at you in your support of McCain-Palin because you are sometimes so obvious with your baiting it's not even worth the keystrokes. But I will say this
- What was Christian about the Iraq War? Did we go as
- Evangelizers or protectors for Bush's cadre of oil barons?
- What is Christian about lying about the reasons we went to war?
- What is Christian about betraying your own CIA operatives for political purposes?
- What was Christian about Bush's epic dereliction of duty when it came to the reaction to Katrina?
- What is Christian about spying on your own citizens in violtion of the law?
- What was Christian about tax cuts for wealthy at the expense of the poor?
- What is Christian about opposing universal healthcare?
- What is Christian about invoking fear to get compliance?
- What is Christian about lying about the conditions in Iraq?
- What is Christian about our energy policy which was dictated to us by the industry at Dick Cheney's behest behind closed doors?
I could literally go ON and ON with this but the point is simple. You can vote for the McCain-Palin ticket for whatever reason you choose. But let's not pretend that either party represents the "Jesus" vote. They do not. Even the Libertarians and Green party's platforms fall short.
I have no problem voting for the Democratic ticket, not so much because they're Democrats - but because they are no longer home to Conservatives. It has not been Democrats or Republicans but CONSERVATIVES who stood against freedom, who stood for Jim Crow, who continue to stand as the last bastion of hope for bigotry whose justification never existed and whose time is up. They have been on the WRONG side of history virtually every social issue since America began. Is that who you REALLY want to align yourself with?

What was anti Christian about the Iraq War? Did we go as Evangelizers or protectors for Bush's cadre of oil barons? Since 2005, the Council for Assyrian Research and Development has sought to record the abuses endured by Assyrians through the Assyrian Human Rights Documentation Project. The first outcome paper produced by the group pulls no punches in its grim assessment. The paper warns, "At the current rates of ethnic cleansing, forced assimilation and migration, the indigenous Assyrian Christians will be fully eradicated from the new 'democratic Iraq' in less than 10 years ... the Kurdification, Arabisation, and Islamification of Iraq have left an ancient people at the doors of extinction."What is anti Christian about lying about the reasons we went to war? everything Thou shall not lieWhat is anti-Christian about betraying your own CIA operatives for political purposes? everything But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. What was anti Christian about Bush's epic dereliction of duty when it came to the reaction to Katrina? everything Love your neighbor as yourselfWhat is Christian about spying on your own citizens in violtion of the law? what you talking about ?....the NAACP is a group that all lifetime members of bglo's are members ofWhat was Christian about tax cuts for wealthy at the expense of the poor? nothingWhat is Christian about opposing universal healthcare? nothing What is Christian about invoking fear to get compliance? hazing is illegal bro stop hazing nowWhat is Christian about lying about the conditions in Iraq? Thou shall not lieWhat is anti Christian about our energy policy which was dictated to us by the industry at Dick Cheney's behest behind closed doors? everything'This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me;
in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines human precepts.'"
He summoned the crowd and said to them, "Hear and understand.
It is not what enters one's mouth that defiles that person; but what comes out of the mouth is what defiles one." where i am at i am in the third d on the yard the the the yard

In other words....YOU SAID THE HELL OUTTA THAT!! water, As far as your responses to Damie's questions go...you sound just like that crazy VP pick of yours who tried to use God and the Bible to justify this war in Iraq. Are you people really that wacked out? Do you really think that God finds favor in a war perpetuated by lies? Do you think He smiles down on this nation every time an innocent Iraqi civilian is killed in the crossfire of this farce? Now, come back with a response that won't answer either of my questions...as you always do.
