once he clears a physical it's been reported that he's being traded to Poenix for Marion and some other nigga.... One last shot for a championship for the big guy...
...and the west once again is the class of the NBA (not that they weren't before but now it's even moreso). Phoenix would have a beast of a squad when Shaquille only has to play a limited role.

You only need 3 or so dudes to run the fast break...
...once he is not counted on to score, defend, rebound, and dominate - I think he'll be productive. He gives them a big 7 footer that can give you quality minutes, who is a veteran (and still gets veteran calls) and frees up Amare to just score. If you're phoenix this is a great trade I think.

yeah I definitely think it's a good move for Phoenix. Smart move on their GM's part to rent shaq for a season or two....

yeah I definitely think it's a good move for Phoenix. Smart move on their GM's part to rent shaq for a season or two.... That's basically what it is... cause in a couple of years he'll be retired, and he can't carry a team anymore. Now he won't have to. He'll just have to fulfill a role and when he can concentrate his efforts on one thing, he'll be productive.

I think its a good move for Phoenix. I don't think its enough to get them out of the West.

I think they were good enough to get out of the West last year. I mean minus the suspensions, does San Antonio beat Phoenix? I don't think they do.

I don't know why Kobe would be pouting...I really don't think this makes Phoenix any better than the Lakers. This is not Shaq of 5 years ago. This is really a gamble by Phoenix. Whats more likely...Shaq leads them to a title run, or Shaq gets some injury that keeps him out the entire year?

yeah, but he's still a serviceable seven footer and takes up much space in the middle. And, if Shaq gets enough naysayers, his ego may motivate him to play at that "shaq level." Put it like this, the move can't hurt Phoenix. it only helps em....

When Shaq is inspired he is still one of the best. The Lakers not going no where. Gasol will get shitted on and in foul trouble trying to guard Stoudamire. That is what this trade is all about. Putting Stoudamire at PF. Wake up folks..lol That's the person you need to watch. Amare finally gets to play his true position and the only person in the West at PF that can slow him down from scoring is probably Lamarcus Aldrige and that's it. Stoudamire gonna average 30 plus in the playoffs watch

You all are assuming that Shaq is actually gonna be healthy enough to even play. From a man that missed half the games last year and 14 out of 46 already this year...I'm not convinced. When Shaq sits out (and he will) Phoenix is suddenly the same Phoenix, but without Shawn Marion. I'm not 100% convinced that Shaq is even gonna pass the physical for the trade to happen. The man is in poor physical condition. We'll see.

Phoenix is dropped IMMEDIATELY down my list in the West! Shaq? Wow...I sense desperation. That's a HUGE square peg trying to fit a round hole. He'll slow that team to a crawl unless he plays a VERY limited role...

First of all, trading Shawn Marion for THIS Shaq has all the makings for a disaster. This move is so ridiculous that not even a caveman would do it.
I agree with Coldfront06. Shaq has rarely kept himself in good playing shape throughout his career, even dating back to his days with the Lakers. He ALWAYS came to training camp ridiculously out of shape, which notably impacted his durability, and quite frankly, I don't blame the Lakers for letting him go. Why would they pay a player who annually misses 15 games a season because he can't stay in shape? The last time he played close to a full season was 2000.
Even if he plays every game with Phoenix, he still won't contribute to the extent to make them a championship team. He is slow moving down the court (he doesn't have the stamina or conditioning to thrive in Phoenix's fast-break offense); his help defense is suspect (even HE admitted that he is not known for defense --- gee, isn't this an area where the Suns need help?) ; he is lazy on the boards (even Kidd is outrebounding him), and the flaws go on and on.
I agree that he could be a presence, but will he be a FORCE? There is a big difference.
All of those years of weight fluctuation, and lack of regard for his body, finally caught up with him. However, I will say this much: I give MAD props to his legs for holding up that excess fat.
This trade is subtraction by addition.
